GreenPeace, the organisation behind some amazing projects such as, “Save the sperm whale, before they’re flaccid!” have announced earlier today that GreenPeace: the game is set to be released next year. David “War is for naughty people!” Wail (Geddit? Whale… :D) said earlier today, “There’s too much evil in the world. More and more games focus on violence, anger and hatred. This is why we decided to produce a game where saving the environment is the #1 priority.” Unfortunately, David forgot to mention that in producing a Video Game, you add to the greenhouse effect. “Oh Sh… No, swearing is for politicians! Well, in this case, our games will be made from 100% recycled materials.” How this is supposed to work, we do not know.
In the past, GreenPeace have campaigned for animal rights, environmental protection and the War on the War on Terrorism. How the last one actually works is beyond us. Then again, these are the people who campaigned against the use of fossil fuels, yet had to use petrol to power their speedboat, but anyway. Onto more pressing issues. Mr. Wail hasn’t confirmed the rumours, but we thought we’d show you them anyway. We now go live to Barry our presenter, reporting from Guam, where GreenPeace are currently campaigning for rubber tree rights!
“Hi, yes, welcome to Guam. According to this local shaman, 'Greenpeace: the game' will feature heavily on the War on the War on Terrorism. Sources tell of interactive incense burning, friendship chains and flower-power mode. Although, hippies may/may not be playable characters, it would be fun to at least see them feature in the game. Also, according to Witch Doctor Bob, there will be the option of changing from first to third person view whilst attempting to rescue those dolphins from the fishing nets. Back to you in the studio, Jim."

"What's better than saving the environment? Saving the environment in groups, of course! Using two consoles, tied together with string (The environmentally-friendly version of Broadband) you and a host of people all around the world will be able to save whales/dolphins/trees/sea monkeys together! Dubbed Eco-gaming, it is set to become one of the most played games of all time!"
Indeed, it does look rather interesting. Now for a quick guide of the play modes. Over to our chief researcher, Fred.

Planning- Plan your campaigns here. Design and issue recycled (obviously!) leaflets, banners and business cards, work out the costs, create fundraisers to cover these costs and even study the breeding patters of whales In order to know where they are!
Multiplayer- Campaign mode but with either one to three friends or through the string communication ability.
Time mode- Struggle to free the trapped dolphins from the fishing nets in under two minutes, race across Europe in under four days to protest against the manufacture of non-recycled paper, and even compete in head-to-dead bake-off contests!
Create-a-campaigner- Create your very own GreenPeace volunteer!
Extras- While this is only a rumour, it is said to contain recipes for organic cakes, movies of previous campaigns and a thank-you letter from a whale."
Thanks for that Fred. Another big feature is the free-gift that comes with GreenPeace- the Game. You'll either find a recycled badge, a link to the GreenPeace web site or for lucky people, a real fish egg! Yes, 100 lucky gamers will be able to manage their own fish farm. Genius!
The war on the War on Terrorism is also another big factor in the creation of this game. Nuclear Weapons are definitely a no-no, and a hefty chunk of Campaign mode is designed entirely to brainwash the youth of today. Subliminal messages will be present everywhere in GreenPeace: The game and this will force gamers into believing that War is wrong. On a certain level, you come face-to-face with Saddam Hussein himself! To suggest a non-violent way of preventing war, instead of shooting him, you smack him round the face with a 100% recycled cardboard trout. A real trout would go against everything GreenPeace stand for, so it was therefore decided that cardboard would do the trick.
At the end of Greenpeace: The game, you are given the chance to plant your own tree. You have to feed it, aim lamps at it's branches and watch it develop into a politician-killing monster! It's madness, but then again, it's Organic. What did you really expect?
The game has been banned already in Germany, where anti-war comments are not welcome. The French, however, are welcoming GreenPeace: The game with open arms! Still, it's one less language to have to translate into, so the European release will hopefully be a lot sooner.
Look out for GreenPeace the game next year, well, unless you're living in Germany.
