Okay, we've had a good long look at all the banners submitted, and we've eventually picked our winners. First of all, I have to say, the difference in quality between this competition and the last one has definitely been noticeable - they're much better, so well done everybody. Anyway, the winners are...

WINNER - CONSUMER58
Quite frankly, these are blinding banners, probably better than any of us could do! At first we thought they were professionally done, then we thought they were nicked, then we thought they'd be a bajillion K, but we were proved wrong - consumer58, we salute you! Because of your blinding standard of banners, we award you TWO full games of your choice, up to the value of £50 - congratulations! The winning banners that will appear on our site are as follows:

1ST RUNNER-UP - WHY?
A fine selection of banners here, lots of them, though I particularly like the simple UKclearance.com one near the end - just goes to show that sometimes one simple idea is better than cramming loads of ideas onto a small banner. You win a £25 GAD prize, congrats.

2ND RUNNER-UP - 2DASHING
Really liked these UKphonetones.com banners, kind of a new style for SR stuff but it looks cool, very fresh, funky and new. Again, very simple but effective (if a little too fast, pointer for next time!). If you can send us a slower one, we'll use that instead. We chose the banner below to win a £25 game of your choice, well done.

Seriously everyone, it was hard to judge this competition because the quality was so high on all of them so the original ones had to stand out. if I could have given more prizes I would have, but I can't so you'll just have to wait til the next one.

Congrats, and see you soon!
Ali

Woohoo - it's everyone's favourite Extra GAD prize, the Banner competition! We know you all love this one (and hell, we have a good laugh looking at some of your efforts) so we thought we'd bring it back as previous ones have been so successful.

All you have to do, is design a banner or two (or as many as you like) promoting Special Reserve goods or services. We have a few rules that need to be observed, but basically you're free to use your imagination and let your creative juices flow!

Here are a few conditions if you want to enter:

1. Your banner must not be over 15k in file size. Static or animated banners are fine. The image size for our site is 468 x 60 - banners of different sizes will not be entered. Gifs or Jpegs are okay, anything else is not.

2. If you have webspace of your own, host it there and post a link to it in this thread. For those of you who don't have webspace to stick it on, e-mail it to the usual Gameaday address and we'll host it ourselves. We'd prefer if you host it though.

3. The best banner ideas are fairly simple - try and get your message across as best you can without cramming the banner with text. If you're doing a banner for a product, try and get the USP (unique selling points) across properly. You should be able to nab pictures from our site to promote want you want, lord knows we've got plenty.

Things we'd like you to promote at the moment include UKphonetones.com, Our new range of PC sites (see left hand sidestrip) and any cool PC hardware or gadgets. Even things like free postage and Gameaday will be considered. Like I said before, you're free to promote anything you like, but don't blame us if we don't pick your banner for a £2.99 lead to win.

If we decide to use 1 of your banners, you'll win a game of your choice up to the value of £25.

If we decide to use 2 or more of your banners, you'll win a game of your choice up to the value of £50.

There aren't a set number of prizes for this one, it depends on how many decent entries we receive. Go to http://ukchatforums.reserve.co.uk/bannercomp to see some previous entries (or 'How not to win SR's Banner Competition') for some inspiration.

This competition ends at the end of February and starts.... now!

Thanks Consumer58 for informing me about the mistake. I'll correct it and also slow it down as requested by SR.

Cheers Muddy.

They were pretty much all done in Photoshop and then put through it's sister program, Image Ready. The more graphicy ones were done by tracing photos in fireworks and putting them into Photoshop. Nothin special with the fonts, just as they come and anti-aliased.....
