In the early days of gaming there were some mighty battle between the likes of Atari and Spectrum, they built the path for the next generation of consoles, which opened a whole new era of gaming. And thus next gen consoles were born. Nintendo dominated this next generation of consoles thanks to consoles like the NES and the Game boy, which revolutionised gaming forever. It wasn’t until Sony came along when Nintendo had some real competition. The PS1’s sold in their thousands giving Nintendo a run for their money, it also gave the gaming world the vital boost it needed. The heat was really turned on when the N64 came into the world but even that wasn’t good enough to compete with Sony who were still selling the Playstations in their thousands, granted the N64 was more powerful than the ps1 but Nintendo just couldn’t compete with the value of the PS1, the N64 did bring us some great games though and will be missed in the gaming world.
The younger generation have now made way for the generation of consoles, which has had everyone talking about it.
After the success of the ps1 Sony decided to move on and built the PS2. the PS2 is a console that can really compete with the best and boy can it show it’s true colour.
The ps2 has seen the return of many a great game, along the likes of Final Fantasy, Burnout and many other well-known titles.
There are some new kids on the block though. Microsoft have come into the limelight with the worlds post powerful games console, which has the ability to blow gaming into another dimension. There is more competition though, Nintendo have released what must be the most talked about console yet, The Nintendo Gamecube. The GameCube has sent Ninty’s into a buying frenzy making the Gamecube what must be Nintendo’s most successful console yet.
Thanks to Nintendo the world of handheld gaming has reached a whole new level.
The Gameboy colour brought huge success to Nintendo and with that Nintendo launch the worlds most powerful handheld console yet, the Gameboy Advance.
The Gameboy Advance is the world’s most powerful handheld console. The GBA has a mega powerful 32-bit processor which has the ability to churn out the most beautiful handheld graphics in the world.
The question I would like to know is, why aren’t any other console manufacturers making handhelds? Well the answer is simple, they just couldn’t compete with Nintendo.
In the world of the consoles though there is fierce competition for top spot. Hardly surprising seeing as the gaming industry is worth billions in hard cash.
So why is the competition so fierce? Well it’s mainly due to the fact that they are all trying to compete with each other to bring the best value for money to their customers.
Nintendo were the first to bring value for money for their customers.
At launch you could pick up a Gamecube for £100 this eventually forced Microsoft to cut the price of their machine thus starting a price war. At first Sony were reluctant to become involved in the price war but they eventually had no choice. This my fellow gamers is what a price war really means it may not work out for the likes of Microsoft but it’s all the better for us mere mortals as we pick up a great console at a bargain price.
It’s only over the past couple of years that gaming has really taken of and now everyone is talking about it.
Gaming has advanced beyond anyone’s wildest dreams. With the introduction of online gaming it gives gaming the chance to evolve even further, along the way opening new portals that allow us to see and gain access to things we’ve never even dreamt of seeing before. Will online gaming take off? Well it should because game developers have now had enough experience to contribute to the new world of online gaming. We will however have to wait and see how it goes.
Just like everything else in the weird and wonderful world that is gaming!
good day!
What was that for? Are you Trevor Macdonald?
