I'm not trying to bash or whatever you want to call it but it's disgraceful that the Europeans have to pay £120 more for the same console.

I'm not happy.

Take the RRP with a pinch of salt, no company in there right mind would sell a memory card for that price - unless your EB :p

In anycase, is anyone actually getting a memory card at launch? I'm not even going to bother...

Controllers are £24.99 and the memory cards are £49.99. This is according to the offical X-Box site. SR have memory cards for £28.99, so I hope they stay that price.

The memory cards are also suppose to be £50. This is according to the offical X-Box website. Iam glad SR feel they have to disagree the MS pricing.

Cooky is oddly correct- the chance of MS doing well in Asia is next to nothing. Not only do the Japs tend to like their own hardare more, but Japan is traditionally a one-console country.

However, MS only need to break into a small piece of the market- maybe the proportion the N64 had- and then they'll be set up for the Ybox in 5 years time.

Want even more proof that MS are commited to cracking the japenesse market?

I read today that they are planning to open a factory in asia to meet demand for the xbox in japan. The intital 300,000 units are coming from the mexico plant, but MS state that in a while this one factory would be "insufficint" to meet demand.

Cooky, I believe that if MS could have more than 300,000 units ready for the japan launch they would! The reason why the initial shipment is quite small is because there is still high demand in america for the xbox, not because they want to release good press statements.

There's only going to be 300,000 X-Box's available for the Japanese launch. This is compared to the 500,000 Gamecube's and 1,000,000 PS2's that were available.

People say that Microsoft are doing this in hope that they get a total sell out, and so can play off the PR gained from that!

But from a guy in China I was talking to yesterday, it doesn't sound like the X-Box is going to do very well in China or Japan at all!

I think you misunderstood me...

I knwo every console makes a loss... but for MS then to say they will knock off even more money for the Japanese launch shows developers how serious they are to get the console established in what is probably the hardest market for them to conquer. It should certainly provoke Jap publishers to support the console.

Every console manufacturer makes a LOSS on their consoles, they make their profit on the games and accessories.

It doesnt suprise me to see that we pay alot more for something thats £120 cheaper somewherelse...

We didn't get the nickname "Rip off Britain" for nothing :)
