There have been a lot of rumors going around that say the X-Box will be able to play NTSC games without anykind of add on or chip. It is also said that when you get the DVD add on with the remote it will also let you play import DVDs from anywhere. Is this true and are there anymore rumors going round?

I seriously doubt any truth in that for many reasons. Regions are made so that games and films cannot be taken to another country and viewed, in an attempt to remove piracy from our lives, but to also make us shell out more money for our beloved games and films. If Microsoft made their console Region X, I would be shocked to say the least, but it would be better for avid gamers who want the latest games from the USA and Japan. I'd like it, but it's a doubtful prospect, unfortunately.

Actually, region lockouts INCREASE piracy as I have been saying.

They can, however, let film makers (and game makers) control the price of films and games, so that we have to pay more than the Americans for almost anything!

The Xbox, contrary to rumours, will not be multiregion... shame, but that's the way things go!

the xbox console itself is regionless however, those nice people who enforce the region contols forced microsoft to put a region on thr remote so if u want to play other regions u simply need a xbox remot kit from that region, hope this helps

So will the X-Box be a multi-region console? So will American NTSC games work on a UK machine?

yeah as far as i know this is official news, as my user name says i import the things and i have phoned microsoft xbox support line to verify this.

I would suspect that games will not run all teritory, which is a shame but iam sure a modification will be avilalbe to solve this problem if u really want to.

any questions feel free to mail me
