£55 for 5 year old N64 games. £35 for 2 year old Playstation games. Surely their profit margins are %400+. I have also noticed the same thing in other stores. Even supposed electronic stores like Dixons and Curry's are guilty of this malpractice.
The only times I have found these stores of some use are in the sales. Every now and again you get a decent bargain then, but they are still in the main vastly over priced.
So where do you get good price games from. You may say this sounds a bit like sucking up but places like Special Reserve are your best bet. They do offer the best all year round prices, that everyone can afford. Failing that, some game only stores i.e. one off specialist stores, are sometimes preety good. If you find a good one then your laughing all the way home with some great deals. Also some 2nd hand stores sell some bargains, [last week I got goldeneye for £5] but there are obviously certain risks to this.
So in conclusion, do not buy games from big chain stores except in sales. Buy your games from specialist places and individual stores. By recommendation of me.
Your thoughts much appreciated.
Solution: dont buy games from Woolworths.
However, be prepared for rocket high prices meaning that you'll be paying around quarter or even a third of the console price for one game.
> I saw in my local Woolworths Conkers BFD selling for £60!!!
Sorry for advertising, but I saw it in my local ** for £24.99
(You'll have to guess where, but don't post the answer here. Send it in an envelope, and a £5 to......)
"So in theory they could charge £10. Does anyone know how much the stores buy them 4?"
Probably more than £10. :0)
Usually there's a profit margin that they want to achieve... they might buy them in for about £30 a game, and then sell them for around £35 - £40. Perhaps.
I've got no real idea though.
