I think most people would wish for all 3 consoles if they are honest with themselves. The fact that most people can't afford to buy all three, or want to limit themselves to just buying one, is what is behind these console war topics. Everyone wants to think they they have backed the winner, and that the money they have spent isn't money down the drain.
Damn Console wars topics - they should be banned.
Anyway - my twopenneth, for what it's worth.
It don't matter diddlysquat which console can shift the most polygons or which one is better at bi linear filtering and all the other techno mumbo jumbo that gets quoted by stupid fanboys.
The only thing that matters is the games that are made and if they are worth playing.
Who cares that the X box has twice as much ram or whatever if the games are not the ones you want to play ?
If you want to play Halo - buy and X box - If you want to play Vice City buy a PS2 - if you want to play Mario buy a Gamecube.
They are all great systems and all do the job that they were designed to do wonderfully well.

I'm not quite sure what you meant by that, surely realism in games is simply either asthetic in terms on photo-quality graphics, but that's no where near a possibility even on a top of the range PC yet.
As for physics and AI, not entirely sure yet either. I've seen the PS2 do some remarkable things like support full Dolby 5.1 decoding at a software level, but nothing which couldn't be done on another console.
Except maybe particles, however the PS2 manages particles is amazing, I'm of the ability to writ emy own particle engine, so maye I'll just need to get myself a PS2 linux kit and see if I can benchmark the PS2 against a PC to see what's up.
PS. For the uneducated particles are used to make smoke, fog, clouds, fire, sparks etc in video games, basically things which are small coloured dots :D

xbox is a lot better than ps2 well i think but other ppl may ave a different thought on it.
