I'm bored. That's my final statement, my leaving speech. I've had enough of the forums. Not because I don't like games, because I do. I just feel I'm growing up. Probably stupid hormones, probably my intellect evolving if you like. I've taken a new approach to things, but the fact is I've had enough of being a boring person debating boring statistics, statements and facts on an internet forum. When I first came here, the forums were a place of intellectual debate. Now they're a place of desecration, full of crap and nine year olds who find it funny to talk absolute nonsense. I've had enough. I'm sure to the few members old and wise enough to care, this might be a shame, because I'm one of the few people left on the forums who can string together a complex sentence. <-- see?

But I'm not going down without a big long rant. Oh no no no. A rant about this, a rant about that. The forums have something to say about videogames. What do they say? Well, videogames are evolving, the tides are changing. Older people are more into videogames and I can accept this fact. That doesn't mean that I'm not growing out of videogames, because I fear I am. I don't have the passion about them I used to, I just don't care anymore. Sure, I'm looking forward to Zelda and Metroid, and to a certain extent Counter Strike 2003. That's it though. I remember the 'good old days' as I liked to remember them as, when I would spend every waking moment thinking about videogames. Now, that was a waste of time, money and thought. I've had enough.

Call me callous in my youth, call me avaricious because I don't want to waste my money on games, but that's not true. Games bore me now, I'm tired of seeing the same old crap getting churned out year after year. Do you immature little people (non immature people excluded, of course) want some advice? Get a life. Videogames aren't the center of the world, and things don't revolve around them. Get some interests. Read a book. Write a book. That's what I'm doing. And you want to know what? I'm losing my interest in videogames.

I suppose so. I may pop around the life forum every once in a while, I guess I'm just annoyed at how crap the Chat forum is getting. When I get round to coming on the internet, I usually spend my time on the Edge forums.

I've posted on the forums very infrequently lately, but I still visit. I guess I can't really leave.

But don't expect me round much often any more. It's good to be... wanted. :)

As I've always maintained of Football.

But do rethink leaving these forums, or at least remember them if you take a break for a while. I've found that gaming seems to wane from my life at times and then sooner or later it comes back as strong as ever, stronger sometimes.

Still, the forums incorporate more than gaming, I hope you will consider the other options open to you, films, sport and, yes, even life. We need to keep the interesting posters who make the site worthwhile, not those who wish only to spam and write one word replies all the time.

You should hang out in the life forum, where we debate zero gravity monkey wrestling and other mature topics.

I think you'll find that the more mature people here (and there), use the forums for some japery and to pass their time at whilst at work. There are some funny boogers on t'forum too me laddo.

So ditch videogames and come join the mass debating over women and other topics, that we undertake on a daily basis.

It's really mostly a hobby for the people on this board. And it's as much a cause for debate as film or music is.

And how old are you anyway?

Ah well. It's fair enough if you feel that way, but I certainly don't. Obviously as you mature you have to turn the blind eye on such interests as gaming, but there will always be a flare that reminds me of how my gaming days began.

You can try and leave games, but one day the admiration and fascination of improvements in technology will catch up with you and spark those cherished memories.

As for leaving the forums, you go mate! The internet has become one hell of a distraction for me, but I don't think it'll ever be an addiction nor an obsession. This is the very first forum I've joined, and I think it's brilliant! Sure, there are the odd dull and repetitive moments, but SR is simply a place to chill out, have a laugh and create fun topics for discussion. However, you are of course entitled to think otherwise as you may have a totally different lifestyle...

..but you'll surely be missed, even though I barely knew you.

You can still grow up and play videogames you know. It isn't exactly wrong or sad just because you're into games, loads of people are nowadays. From the sounds of it, you've been influenced by Parkinson - a boring, useless, old tw*t!

Don't be boring, pick that(those) pads back up and have a good play! You'll be back in no time!...hopefully

And as I was about to say until I somehow managed to post what I'd already written, videogames are only games. Not cause for heated debate, but just games. If you get obsessed about things like that, it really can encroach on everything else about your life. You may call it a harmless craze, but it's not. And don't call me a ranting preacher either, because I'm not.

So why am I writing this self obituary? I'm saying goodbye to SR, to the forums where I spent a good long time of my life. They used to be as good as the Edge forums are now, but they just aren't anymore. I'm not vising there anymore either.

So goodbye Special Reserve. I may be back, to post the odd review every now and again. But not to the forums. I'm sorry, but that's the way it is. Goodbye Snuggly, Tony, Edge, Sonicrav, pb, Dark Mark, Totoro, Mystique, Vottanator, Er-no, Sheepy and Your Honour - the people who I grew up to respect and heck - even like.

So you hear me people? Go out there and get some other interests. And buy Epica by Kamelot. The best album you'll ever buy.
