How good-a-deal is that! A GC that plays US and JAP games, and it cheaper then an official UK machine - as this is expected to retial at £199!
Apparently there are two jumper connectors inside the GC - one is usd or US machiens, the other for JAp machines - all the swicth does is change between the two.
Here hoping that a three way swicth can be added to the UK machine for all region play.
Must admit, thinking of getting a modded machine for £170! They also do the black and orange GC for £185
As a sind note their selling the Panasonic GC, modded to play both US and JAP games, and DVD region free for £320 - amazing!

Bleerers, Who or what is NCSX?

Ahh i see! No didn't see it there - saw it on www.gamecube.co.uk - unless they are the same company.
To be honest i was going to get a GC from the states through work but that'd mean i'd have to mod it myself - look's simple enough, but if you can get it done for you at a good price then all the better.
So do all Jap and US games work then?
I think i'm gonna wait until the UK machine is out, then get a Gcube that has been modded to play Jap, US and Euro games. How cool will that be - get the latest releases from the US/Japan, but still be able to buy UK games when they are released!
I'm so glad that Nintendo have made the GC so easy to chip for playing games from other contries (whether this was by design or accident i don't know) as the mod situation with the PS2 is relly anoying - to play an import game you've realistically gotta get a test machine (i know you could get a Neo4 but there too much hassel), and i ain't got £400 to spend on one of those - well actually i have, but im too tight fisted!
Sonic
Nintendo on the other hand don't care, since they view the import scene as a niche market. Nice of em' isn't it?
A Gamecube for £175 sounds cheap but there are other costs to add to the initial cost of the cube itself
I got my Gamecube just before Crimbo from lik-sang.com and it cost a total of £347 as detailed below :-
Gamecube £ 186
Memory Card 14
Star Wars game 47
Shipping 37
Import duty 63
-------
£ 347
Let's face it - no point buying the console without a memory card and a game - and of course apart from the shipping cost HM Customs have to get their CUT as well
So - it's probably not that good a deal - some reports suggest the UK Gamecube will cost £199 - however due to the uncertainty regarding a UK launch date I couldn't wait.
A couple of other warnings -
1. Unless your television can receive NTSC signals the
US/JAP games will only play in black and white.
Most modern TVs are NTSC compatible but older ones are
not. So , like me you might have to go out and buy a new
television as well ( it was time I updated my telly
anyway so this was a good excuse to do so )
2. UK PAL games may not work on the US/JAP Gamecube so you
may have to order all games on import
> If Sony don't want people to buy imported and pirated games from abroad then why
> do they continue with the production of the PSX/PSOne???
Yeah, but how many revisions has the main board gone under to thwart these aspiring people?
