Not a biased view point from myself but a quote from Yoichi Wada who is the president of... Squaresoft. He also went on to add that Squaresoft are in talks with Nintendo for work on the GBA and Gamecube. Rumours are also rife about GBA only Final Fantasy titles. So Could Squaresoft be working for Nintendo?
Well something hit me as soon as I read that statement and all four websites I read it from never commented on it. How do Squaresoft know the Gamecube is more developer-friendly if they aren't working on it yet? Namco have also skipped to Gamecube as we already know but they never really liked Nintendo, I will never forget when they said "The N64 isn't good enough to compete with the Playstation", but they have changed their tune now with praise delivered to both Gamecube and X-box, Dead or Alive 3 developers Tecmo have said the Gamecube is a Brilliant console with a bright future.
This sudden ammount of Gamecube praise has given analysts a re-think and they now predict the Gamecube will have a 30% share of the market and that the PS2 will drop 6%! Despite this drop the PS2 will still be the market leader. So what has promted such a turn around from previous PS2 exclusive companies? Money? The fact that its now easier to work for Nintendo or Microsoft?
Well yes all of those, with games that don't sell they can be recalled and games can be made over them something that attracted developers to the PS1, but another factor is that the developers are worried about the PS2's dominance and fear that there will be one day one console and it will be from Sony. So commitment to the Cube and X-box have commenced and it looks as if it could effect Sony and their Playstation system. If Tecmo is bringing their beat 'em up legend to the Gamecube, if Rockstar are bringing GTA3 to the Gamecube, if Squaresoft are to introduce Final Fantasy back on to a Nintendo system and if Namco finally announce Tekken then what does the Playstation have left?
There are other titles that will stand up like GT3 and Wipeout but can they stand up against the might of Nintendo's first and second party titles? And Microsoft have an impressive second party line up as well.
*On a sour note it looks as if Nintendo and Second Party Left Field have had another arguement over Nintendo finding their games, well, crap and it seems there might be a split. But to make you happier the Retro/Metroid situation is looking much better.*
Here's to the future.
Dringo.
With Square being Sony exclusive, Sony are happy because they get exclusive Final Fantasy's and Chrono Triggers, Squaresoft are unhappy because they can't make GBA games (which would make them MUCH more money than any PS2 games) and Nintendo are happy because although they don't get any Square games, Square are unhappy and that's good enough for Nintendo! :-D
Firstly, Square WILL not give up development of the PS2... all their forthcoming big titles are already so far into development that they will be coming out.
It wouldn't suprise me if Square did make GC games... after all, for the first time in 5 years, Ninty is gonna have a big share of the console market.
The said, SONY just bought a big chunk of Square... Oh, and Square may be tempted to stay PS2 exclusive due to the lower licencing.
Oh, and about the GBA games...
Square have already made SEVERAL games for the Wonderswan in Japan. Its no suprise they'll push these games onto the GBA!
Sonic
Console companies want to make more money by getting more support for their system, software developers want to be paid more, both by the company and by getting lots of potential customers and players can't often afford more than one console, so they want to spend their money on something that will provide better value than the rest.
As soon as it looks like their competitors have lots to offer, they get jealous or try to re-assure themselves that their choice is the best by trying to assure everyone else.
This is changing because people are spending more on entertainment and because companies are finding out that there is far more money in multi-format software development.
Naturally I think you're wrong, but right now I can't be bothered because I'd be repeating myself.
I never read this, from what i read off Bloomberg he said
> nothing of the sort other than the Gamecube is developer friendly.
Actually, he DID say that Square were in talks with Nintendo
These Rumours are quite true, even with the 19

BUT do you think that Nintendo will let Square anywhere near that money making machine without something in return.
The deal was that the Gamecube gets Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger at the same time as the PS2.
Sony refused to allow this.
Perhaps Sony wouldn't mind if the Gamecube versions release was 6 months AFTER the PS2's... we'd still get to play the game.
Well something hit me as soon

Interesting idea, but that doesn't mean they'll get very far in the devellopment unless they have both Nintendo and Sony's permission to do so!
They obviously got their

Nintendo didn't want them unless major titles like Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy were released on the Cube at the same time as the PS2. Sony refused to allow this.
Why were Nintendo so strict on Square?
There's a long history and Square deserve it (they even admitted they do), but I wish Nintendo would put it behind them and think of the future.

I prefer F-Zero to Wipeout and as for GT3...
YAAAAAAAAAAWWWNNN...
Burnout is a proper racer with tension, adrenaline and excitement, but that's coming to the Gamecube anyway.
Make of that what you will Turbonutter! :-) (and that grin is REALLY smug!! :-D)
More importantly i heared Sony havent finalised the deal yet.
Congratulations to Dringo for demonstrating this perfectly.
I still can't see Square games coming to the Gamecube in a hurry though, unfortunately.

I got an email from Sony saying something very similiar, they to it seems, are looking forward to the Gamecube and say it seems great (Sony UK and Sony Ireland).
This

I think it will be significantly more, the secret weapon has yet to be fully unleashed which is the GBA/GC interconnectivity.
So what has

The ease of development coupled with the storage format.
This is evident from comments from multi-format developers.
Well yes all of

Yeah, I read the same argument on Bloomberg, but your right and your wrong. Sony have a 19% share in Square, so in that effect, if Square where to make Gamecube games and be successful, Sony would reap in profits on Square-Gamecube releases. Now how would Nintendo feel about this?
There are other
> titles that will stand up like GT3 and Wipeout but can they stand up against the

Not a chance will they stand up to Nintendo, Wipeout would be effectively thrown out of the window because of F-Zero, as for Grand Turismo- yes an unbeatable killer-app for Sony, probably the only thing they would have left to cling on to.
Sorry about Quoting the topic Dringo, my apoligies.
