Yes it gets rid of the green screen but does not give RGB picture. The Blaze scart cable gets rid of the green screen as well but neither this nor Region X give true RGB picture quality. play any DVD through a scart cable and you'll see that under the green colour it is a better picture, quality wise. Region X and the Blaze cable do not give this quality, they just turn off the RGB signal.

The blaze lead works fine with the PS2 and any tv with a scart connection. It doesnt give RGB signal for DVDs though. To play DVDs correctly you move a switch on hte bit you insert into the PS2. This blocks the RGB signal forcing the normal composite signal to be displayed that you would get if you played DVDS using the leads you get in the box. For games you get scart RGB picture quality but for DVDs its just a way of not having to change cables. The green screen problem orignates inside the PS2 hardware and the only way round it is to have your PS2 modified, which invalidates the warranty.

I hadn't heard that, only what was in OPS2 mag. The thing is I've got a machine bought in February last year and I only bought hte DVD upgrade at xmas but...of the films you list I won all but skulls and have had no problem with them. Fact still remains that we all bought a PS2 which supposedly could play DVDs, not one that will play certain ones depending on when we bought it ! I've had no real problems but still don't realy think its that great.
Getting the DVD player upgrade is a waste

Right, I've had major problems with some DVDs.
