In an ideal world, parents would all have good general knowledge and commom sense about video games.

Im not having a go at my parents here (im 19 and my ma and pa dont really care but are generally "well-up" on the video games market).
I am getting at the genaral parent population.

A few weeks ago I was in HMV and I see a kid and his dad looking at the PS2 games, the kid is looking at GTA3 and asking his dad if he can have it (the kid looked about 10). His dad said no, not because of the 18 rating but because he'd just spent a bucket load of money on a PS2 and a bunch of games already. Here i want to address the parents lack of care towards games as a medium - they are'nt just expensive kids toys anymore!
On that occasion I nearly said to the dad " look mate, whats that little red 18 sticker mean?". Dont get me wrong though - Im not the daily mail type, im usually against censorship.

On saturday, at the games section in Asda, I was perusing the gamecube bit and a little kid runs up grabs a copy of Mario Party 4 and takes it to his mum asking for it, she says no he puts it back. He then grabs a copy of The Lord of the Rings for the XBOX and asks his mum for the is "video".
heres the conversation between them I then overheard:
MUM: "its not a video, its a game for the game boy."
KID: "game boy? is it?"
MUM: holding XBOX game case, "erm, not game boy, pl...playstation, its for playstation, put it back."

All I am asking here is the woman actually use common sense and look at the thing in her hand. That kid is gonna grow up thinking everything is for game boy or playstation and may miss out on quality xbox and gamecube software.

So please mums, dads look at the games your kids want you to get them and pass suitable, sensible judgement on them before you speak/buy.

Thanks for listening.
