At this time of year, all people seem interested in is making their girlfriend or boyfriend happy for this single day of the year by whatever cliche they can come up with, whether it be red roses, a card or even a box of chocolates in the shape of a CD. Music publishers have cottoned on to St. Valentine's day being a great business opportunity by being able to sell love compilations that would sell very little any other time of year. Even some films of the love theme seem to sell a little more this time of year.

Thankfully, games developers seem to have a little more common sense. Girls, think of it like this. What would make your boyfriend more happier and in love with you: A soppy CD that they'll only play when you're around, just to keep you happy? Or a videogame full of blood, gore, explosions and destruction?

I know which I would prefer.

Ofcourse I was talking about the games. I would be under the impression that more love and attention had been put into choosing the Valentine's day present rather than just think you've taken the guy's approach to present buying which generally ends up involving purchasing the first piece of tat that they think will do.

The videogames developers seem to know how to approach St. Valentine's day too.

None of this luvvy-duvvy stuff. Instead they release titles that involve killing and painful duelling, often with blood, guts and anything else to do with an 18 rating from the BBFC that all guys love to see in a beat-em-up; titles that involve the sudden increase in testosterone levels as 'good' and 'evil' fight it out to toy with the balance of power in the modern world of warfare; titles that see giant robotic tortoises that breathe fire and attempt to destroy you with their robotic necks, and all this to remind us that Valentine's day is just as much a day for fancy chocolates and love making as any day should be.

We all know it is commercial, and we're all sick of the Greatest Love Songs albums being advertised between our favourite programmes on TV, and yet we all fall for the retailer's money-grabbing tricks every year. Not that I'm saying it is a bad thing, but I'm sure it does put a strain on some couple's love-lives when they 'forget'. It is just nice to see that gaming hasn't ended up joining all that is luvvy-duvvy, and will still make great presents that both guys and girls will appreciate alike...(or you hope now you've bought her Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance).

Just a wild stab in the dark, but did you forget about St. Valentines day Edgy? It seems you're making a rather big fuss about nothing here... Anyway, I got my girlfriend a red, red rose, we went out to the cinema, had supper and celebrated St. Valentines day like you should XD.

Aye, Doshin is unusually boring - unusual in the sense that Nintendo games very rarely bore me.

It could have been a blessing in disguise that that N64-DD never got released - otherwise we'd've seen Doshin sooner and the shelf space taken by that game would be roughly triple what it is now!
