Thinking of building a PC - probably P4 1.5 - Not sure whether to go down the AMD road or stick to Pentiums? Whaddya reckon?

Well, the AMD T-Bird 1.4ghz outperforms the P4 2ghz in most tasks.
I'm using a AMD Athlon XP1800+ which clocks in at 1.54GHz but apparently out performs the P41800....

I bought an AMD Duron 750 last February for around £45 from a respectable e-tailer and am still using it to this day. I run the likes of Medal of Honour: Allied Assault at maximum graphical settings with minimal framterate slowdown at the most hectic of moments. Never had any heat issues either...
There's a BSD port you can get for Apple Macs. I'm not sure how good it is but it's a dedicated project. Luke?

both my machines are AMD. i have an old K^/2 450Mhz and my new athlon 1.4ghz networked together. both run nice and although my AMD runs hot if you get the right fan it isn't a problem
