OK. I've got a Nokia mobile phone with a Vodafone sim card. The phone has been in my draw for the best part of half a year and I have never used it. I don't think it was ever used before I owned it either. I bought some credit for it and am trying to top it up, but I keep getting "No Network Coverage". Fair enough, I expected this. So I phone Vodafone and explain the above. They say "Have you got the phone's number?", "No, how do I get the number?", "Dial *, #, 100, something, but you need Network Coverage". Wah? I need coverage to get the coverage that I don't have? That makes no sense to me. Anyone know how I can find the phone's number apropo texting people and wasting my student loan?

If you have still got the box, the phone number is on there, which is a bit dodge.

if you get a new sim card you will get a new mobile number, because the number is stored on the sim not the phone you see??

Er.. yeah...do I still need to know the phone's number, or is there some magic way of getting it with the SIM card?

Yes, buy an orange simcard.

Yes purchasing a new sim card foy your mobile phone would be the easiest solution to your problem, as the network problem is nothing to do with your actual phone just the sim card.

However the sim card you must buy is a vodafone one because the phone is more than likely only compatible with the Vodafone network. If it was originally contract and not pay as you go then it would not matter which network the sim card was on.
