I Went into Eb(Sorry SR)and was getting a stand but when i got to the front of the queue the Man said we sell these but we dont recomend them as they mess up your PS2 is this True?

Do you mean the vertical stand cos i heard that it messes up your laser. It hasn't happened to mine yet but who knows?

BOLLARDS! Messes up your PS2? Sony may actually have done this just to get more money, as it costs £75 to fix a broken machine. But from a stand, is it official or un-official?

It is the vertical one but i said is it all Vertical stands and the bloke said it is all of them including the official one so i dont know.

and the horizontal i cant find in EB or SR so i don't know

I got a ps2 for christmas and the man at the store said that sony had released a report saying that the vertical stand may mess up your laser

Nuts, why would Sony produce a stand that damages your PS2? Someone, somewhere probably worked out that using the laser from side-on would wear out quicker than horizontally over about 100 years and started spreading rumours saying it 'messes up your machine'.

What excellent customer service from EB, by the way.
