Something that has been bothering me for quite some time, ever since the arrival of the Cube, will Nintendo ditch the toddler image and appeal to an older audience?

I think that it is imperative for Nintendo to make a grasp for the older and more mature part of the market, but I am still not so sure if they will do so.

The more mature approach will line up with the PS2 and the X-Box, which will mean a broader variety of consoles for developers to produce their games on, hence a more satisfied network of gamers. They have even aquired the sole licence of the Resident Evil series, does that mean more mature games all round?

I am sure that a lot of people will want games that appeal to them more, but at what cost? The loss of the younger market?

Nintendo has been relying on the younger generations for a very long time now, so is it feasable for them to ditch them now? Can they without too many repercussions?

I would like to here everyone's opinion on this subject. What do you think Nintendo will do? Stick with the young market, or move on to the more mature audience?

Please, make your opinions on this matter felt, I am interested to know your feedback.

Many thanks,

Alasdair

I don't think Nintendo will ditch there reputation as I like to call it but I think that they are starting to appeal to a wider age group by alowing the resident Evil series e.t.c to be brought to gamecube, how it will go? only time will tell, anyway welcome to the forums.
