I don't know what happened to the spark. I used to play games to completion and then carry on to better my scores. Nowadays I'll finish a game to see the entire story, and then not bother going back to get all the collectibles, choosing instead to do something else outside the games life.
There just doesnt seem to be anything interesting out there anymore. Monkeyball and Pikmin got me for a while, but it's not like it was when Tricky came out. I diddn't even bother buying The Getaway or Mortal Kombat. I'm not tempted to trade the whole lot in yet but I doubt I would miss it if it was all stolen by the time I got home, and maybe not buy another.
Perhaps this is linked to a current boredom I have for life? I'm sick of doing the same old things every day, and I'm sick of everyone else being so poor that they can't do anything about it (you know what I mean there). But then I havent lost my enthusiasm for my other interests, like my car and my bikes.
Perhaps the gaming industry is too stale now. Endless sequels, no originality. It's all about the money rather than the games now. We're not even getting Space Channel 5 part 2 in this country because of poor sales of the last one, regardless of it's fanbase.
Perhaps I'm growing out of gaming, and would rather have the experiences in the real world rather than the virtual? Though sometimes the 'realness' of the real doesnt seem all that solid, and that the world around me is just another game, one that I've played before.
I don't know where I'm going with this, or wether it even has somewhere to go. I'll leave it there.
I didn't touch my Cube for months and months, nothing appealed to me, I spent more time reading about games on here than playing them.
Then one day I just changed, I watched the NGC video of Zelda and Metroid then went out and pre ordered Zelda, I'm getting back into gaming slightly more now, that's also mainly becuase of Mario 128 being made as a proper Mario 64 sequel after what I thought was a dissapointing Mario Sunshine.
I still think I've grown out of it slightly but I'll never really leave it alone completely, maybe just give it a bit of time and stick with it no matter how crap it is. Oh yeah and I don't get so much time for games now either but still.
Oh and multiplayer Mario Kart, I'll never grow out of that.
PC = 20-40+ hours a week
PS2 = 10 hours a week
N64 = Never :D
I don't think I'll ever lose interest in gaming. And by that, I mean until I'm at that bloated, choking-on-my-own-vomit, Elvis-lookalike, dead-on-the-toilet stage. Then something might give
:0D

*cough* Metroid Prime *cough* Zelda *cough*
Looking forward to NHL 2K3 too, online Ice Hockey on Xbox Live, can't get much better than Live ta the moment for cool gaming experiences.
Mechassault is still my favourite game to play at the moment!!!

I'm looking forward to the new tomb raider too, with high hopes that it's not just another sequel. Also looking forward to jak and daxter 2 though that's ages away. Was really looking forward to DMC2 but I've heard bad things...
I really wanted space channel 5 part 2, it's just not fair that they aren't releasing it in this country!
The current drive for "safe" profits is reducing the amount of games which are being released where we haven't seen it all before. From the select few games which are left, they're either of a very, very eccentric style which only appeals to a select few, or they don't sell well enough in their local territories to warrant a UK release, because it's guaranteed to do even worse in our "FIFA sequel" culture.
The next game I'm genuinely looking forward to is the next Tomb Raider game, I'll be looking for a demo, or a rental to see if it's the massive improvement over the old games that the several years of development would suggest.
Lets just hope something with a SPARK comes along soon.

I get masses of satisfaction from making my car unique. My escort is an absolute gem and my motorbike has won best in show at a streetfighter competition. That was one of the best days in my life!
The only way to get into it is to get stuck in. Buy yourself any old car and go for it. Learn it all on the way.
I've seen a few purple minis on the roads and they look great but it's also been done before. I'm also considering that metallic copper you get on the new volvos but I'm not sure if it would work with the mini. Once it's ready to be sprayed (another couple of weeks) I'll have a play in photoshop.
I don't play games as much as I used to, I do have other hobbies I like losing myself in, but it's nice to come back to gaming when you are too tired to bother doing anything else and have an evening to kill.
I hope to one day be able to work on cars as you do, I have almost no experience, but I would imagine you get a lot of pride from creating something special.
