Devo were a band from ancient times (they started in the mid 70s), and weren't that famous in the UK. More so in the US. Though you probably will have heard 'Whip It' at some point. Musical style was punky pop, moving into 80s pop, and they had a bit of an odd stage presence for the time - wearing these plant pot style hats. Covered by Nirvana, Soundgarden, RATM, and Fu Manchu among others.
