dear MattyP, to get Morty the gym leader on gold; 1st you have to swim to then next island down (not swirl islands) and you have to collect a special potion from the friendly guy in the little house by the cave! once you have the potion, swim back to the island where you find Morty and enter the lighthouse, go straight to the top (watch out for the trainers) then there will be a person standing next to the pokemon. give the potion to the person (she asks for it) and then she will heal the pokemon and leave the lighthouse. you then go straight to the gym and she shall be there!
Ice Cave i think you mean as Silver cave is at the very end of the game and you battle ASH there any way........
If you mean your in a room with a BIG ice floor and keep sliding every where then just push all the boulders in the floor above down the holes near them, this should stop you sliding every where ans you should be able to get up the ladder which will take you closer to getting out.

im glad you like pokemon! i have pokemon red, blue, yellow and silver version! i shall be purchasing the rest of the games soon! but i have 1 question! in the cave from the town where you get the 7th badge to blackthorn city! (i think it's silver cave) how do you get through the tricky ice bit? can you stand on ice (without crashing into rocks or standing on plain ground)

i had Crystal a while back and have finished fully and have one cool team that can kill quickly.
I have helped Ice Blaster come up with teams for his games and they have helped alot. the moves are very strategic to help oner of which you need to be very careful of though.
