I am writing a script that will change my tagline according to whether I'm online or not. I need to know what variables to send using GET in order to fake my login. Don't worry, it's totally secure! Either that or I will have to pray links/lynx will hold my cookie settings.

If you're interested, here's how it works:

I will write an infinitely repeating perl script on Luke's box that will ping my hostname every 10 minutes. If it gets a reply it sets my tagline as being online. If it doesn't it sets it as being online. Furthermore, as my host takes 10 minutes to update the DNS IP tables, a script will also execute when I connect that will also set my tagline to online.

Great, innit?

Well, in that case I just need to get lynx/links to keep me logged in. This might prove difficult!

Anyway after you have finished talking about were you live the answer is that the page does have a referer check to ensure people arn't trying to hack in and change other users details and so I am afraid your idea will not work. Although I am considering an Idle type system in which if you have not posted in the last 30 mins you will be shown as Idle

All I've told you is the third line of my address is Wetherby, which is miles away from where I actually live!
