Do you want the main Final Fantasy Series on the Gamecube? I don't.
Do you want the main Metal Geat Solid Series on the Gamecube? I don't.

Konami and Squaresoft have come underfire for their treatement of the Gamecube. Although they have both confirmed killer titles they are unwilling to place their main game series' on the Gamecube. Sure Crystal Chronicles is nice but can't we play XI or whatever? Yep this exclusive Metal Gear Solid game is cool but it won't be apart of the main series as it wouldn't bea cube exclusive... can't we just get MGS2 substance? Why put all this effort into new games?

Do you actually want that?

NO you see I don't think it is to do qith squaresoft that we aren't getting the main FF series... I think it is down to Nintendo. I mean the Gamecube is a unique gaming experience... it uses conectivity as its main form of expression (although not to major effect yet) and it plays in very different ways. Nintendo don't want ports of PS2 games... they want Gamecube games. Hence the specialist made Metal Gear Solid game.... hence Link in Soul Calibur from Namco, hence the Gamecube made Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles. The name sells consoles and the game will fit in perfectly with the Gamecube line-up.

It is all to do with Nintendo working with the biggest Japanese companies in the world. Konami and Metal Gear Solid, Namco and Starfox Armarda (and SC2), SEGA with F Zero GC and AC, Squaresoft with Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles and Capcom with Zelda (and various deals involving the Capcom 5). This is all to do with Nintendo's massive push in Japan and it will mean next year will be massive for Nintendo in Japan. There is a few first party masterpieces in Japan (Metroid Prime to be released, Mario Kart, Pikmin 2, Mario 128, Mario Tennis, Golf and Animal Crossing 2) but its the other companies you need to look out for. Namco's support isn't as big as it is for the PS2 but it's bigger than it ever was, we of course have 4 legendary Capcom games and a few Resi Evil ports (oh and a megaman game or two) and SEGA are always cropping up with surprises... expect some nice new announcements from them at E3 for this year.

But what of the west? We won't get all the JAP releases and the western games we get are nine times out of ten ports... But Miyamoto said one thing.

"We have been discussing with EA concepts surrounding connectivity"

EA actually making a game with Gamecube concepts in mind?

Discuss.

If SEGA went, I'd be very unhappy.

So far they've delivered genius like Super Monkey Ball for the GameCube, and Sonic Advance for the Game Boy Advance. Also, they've got three major (well, I'd call them major) releases confirmed for the GameCube in Europe this year, such as Super Monkey Ball 2 (out in 9 days!), Skies Of Arcadia Legends and F-Zero GC, and who knows what other great games they've got lined up for not only the GameCube, but the Game Boy Advance as well.

And I should think EA would be talking about connectivity between GameCube and Game Boy Advance, as I don't really see EA putting much effort into making an online game. Even worse, putting effort into a game online on the GameCube. Even worse than that, putting effort into an online game exclusive to Nintendo. It's got to be some GameCube - Game Boy Advance connection.

I don't think SEGA are going to go... EA and Microsoft maybe making offers... I don't think SEGA will accept them... they have big plans.

What he gamecube and the west need is time. Remember the N64? It started out badly but now ask anyone and they will say the N64 was a great console with great games, when it 1st came out though it was N64 this N64 that. In time the gamecube will take control of the west, hard 2 do but it will...
