I suspect someone's just jumping the gun here. Perhaps Sony are looking to manufacture some DevKits so that upon release in 2 or so years time, there'll be a whole load of top class games.

If the PS3 came out tomorrow, it'd sell by the bucket load. Even with no games available, or any forthcoming for the next 12 months.

There'd be 2 million of them in circulation by the time the first game hit the streets.

Exactly, if the PS3 comes out this year, any good games will be 12 months behind, developers haven't started PS3 games yet have they ?

So maybe they're not releasing it this year as we all thought....

So the story originates from a little Taiwanese factory worker - Hmmmm sounds real to me - Not...

I could accept that Sony are starting to produce Dev kits to send out because nowadys games take at least 18 months - 2 years + to develop and produce and the dev kits will have to be issued this year in order for the designers to start early production to be ready for the already announced by Sony 2005 release.

Just enjoy the consoles you have without getting steamed up about what is to come in x years time.

Story looks genuine enough, I have made a point of not reading any PS3 info posts etc so far but assume it will be fully backwards compatible ?

Anyway, can't see it coming out for ages yet, although it would be a great coup for Sony to be so far ahead of the competition.
