I am seriously considering buying this minidisc. It looks the biz. And its quite cheap (£125) I was wanting to know if anyone has this Minidisc and if its any good? I was just wondering mainly if it displays the track name. Because if it don't then its like having a CD with no track names.

Go here for a picture if you are not sure what model you have... (Its Sony..)

(Remove spaces etc etc)

Thanks for you help.

Merry Christmas

Yeah, a mate of mine has one, and it's not too bad at all. For that money, it's excellent.

Meh to Gaz :o)

Sheepy. I know the ones. Well, I have seen them.

This is what you do.

But a coat that you can pull over your head and it has a pouch at the front. Like a hoody does. But, its not a hoody. Then, you put your MD in there (Your brothers ;-]) and close the pouch but leave a little bit open so you can get the headphones out. Then, listen to music.

I do advise that, people may tug on your headphone wire. Thus causing you to lash out. Or, shout at them :-)

I bought the MZ-E900 which has MiniDisc Long Play (MDLP)(http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MZ-E900.html) and the MDS-PC3 player/recorder unit (http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MDS-PC3.html) in October for a total cost of around £510 and I don't regret a penny of it.

Apart from having to record CD's in real time rather than the quick ripping of MP3, I prefer the MiniDisc. The quality is excellent, even in MDLP mode which uses heavy compression.

The PC3 unit is great - I can either connect it to my hi-fi and name tracks with the credit-card sized remote control, or (as I have done) connect it to my PC through the USB and optical cable and use Sony's M-Crew software to record and name tracks far quicker using the keyboard.

I didn't want a portable CD player because I still consider them to be too large - so obviously an MP3 CD player was also not an option. I have a Diamond Rio 500 (which I'm hoping to sell) but that only has 64Mb RAM which is only good for 90 to 120 minutes of music at a decent MP3 quality (minimum 96kb/sec) and SmartMedia cards are still pretty expensive.

For the same price as a 32Mb SmartMedia card (about 1 hour of decent-quality music and £45 using SR's pricing), I could buy 30 blank MD's, giving me a total of about 120 hours of music using MDLP on LP4 mode.

Overall, MD is a far better system than CD, and far cheaper/better value than MP3 players - at least until you can buy 128Mb MP3 memory for around a fiver.

That's what I do. I buy several CD's at a time, record several onto one MD, and then just sit back and enjoy the music! I also have a CD player but that's too big too carry around, where as the MD players are smaller and lighter, making it easier! I wonder what'll come next???
