It's a well known fiction that the British media like to bring down those who have success, and at every opportunity they'll make up an entire novel from a school kid's rumour, but I don't think it's fair that Steps never get criticised other than by lovers of music. Now, before I tell you exactly how I feel about them, let me just say that they have got a talent - they manage not to have that much talent, yet are incredibly successful, so well done to them.

Right. Steps, I'm picking on them because they annoy me - their first song "5,6,7,8" wasn't that bad, but from then on they became Abba clones, disgraced Beegees classics and occasionally made up their own songs, none of which stood out as they all sounded the same, and quite frankly weren't any good. I applaud any charity work they do because their songs do sell well and its good that they do donate to good causes other than H's new comedy sunglasses.

Ok, I'll admit to not being the greatest fan of pop music, but Steps are just so annoying! Firstly, why are there two men in the group, when you can only hear women's voices? So they're a pop group, and they're meant to be slightly 'corny' right? Well, everytime they're 'performing' on television, the cameraman likes to do his thing - zooming into the Timmy Mallet like miming 'H', who mechanically waves to the camera and smiles - how clever!

"Fay" and the other blonde haired singer both seem to know what they're doing, although they haven't got great voices, but the Step with long brown hair, who looks like she has braces on her teeth (strange that), always seems so nervous and you fully expect her to burst into tears - she can't reach the mic, and it is quite funny...

Then there's the other bloke - what a funny guy! Seriously, everytime I see Steps on TV I can't stop laughing, especially when we zoom to the chappy with dark hair - forgetting the fact that you can't hear his voice, unless he sings like a girl, it's hilarious that he always without fail starts smirking - such a cheesy grin, that he stops singing and and follows the camera round, oh you just have to see it.

Anyway, Steps are rubbish, but people love them, I don't, my choice, thanks for reading - now hands up - who agrees?

Cheers

i hate steps, hear say, s club 7 and all that other tosh out there (including all boy bands) there so corny. i like to call it throw away music as people seem to buy it then they get bord of it and by there next single (normaly released a few weeks after the last) it makes no sense to me.

but as i love rap/hip-hop (including the old skool stuff) i can't really complaine much (typo there somewhere) about them not playing there own instruments, but at least with proper rar/hiphop the backing track is normaly mixed by either a live DJ (eg mix master mike) or done by the rapper himself in the studio.

i also find with *good* rap/hip-hop the lyrics normaly have a meaning (like DMX's latest single)

anyay rant over boy bands suck blah blah anyone wanna add anything else?

I absolutely hate Steps. The women in it are nice, especially in those nurse outfits.

The "boys" as it's put in the group are nancy boys and I feel like grabbing a sawn off shotgun and carrying out a very sadistic deed, indeed!

I will get burned for this - but oh well. No pop bands are "real" bands. Their background music is either done by a session artist or synthesised - so there are rarely ever any guitars or drums used and even if there are, they are very rarely used live on stage. The "singing" is computer enhanced, but that's for all types of music, so I can't say too much there.

Give me Radiohead or U2 over Steps or S Club 7 any day. At least Thom Yorke has singing talent!
