Well one way might be to say something that I'm about to say...

I'm thinking of picking up a GC as soon as tomorrow.
A couple that haven't stopped breathing might now be thinking "why the change of heart ?"

The most obvious reason is that I have flu right now so chances are its the words of a sick bloke ranting.

The other is that I've been laying in bed thinking back to games I played such as Metroid and Zelda and how there are times I'd like to play them again (but of course in they're new forms). Afterall, at the end of the day I am a gamer, not a fanboy and I've grown up with Nintendo games.

I might also look into a Gameboy Advance SP towards the end of the month with some of the classic Snes games that are out or coming out.

If I get a GC, this is what I'm thinking of grabbing...
Black GC
Extra controller (black of course)
Resident Evil
Resident Evil Zero
Mario Sunshine
Advanced scart lead (for best pic and sound quality)

Then of course I'll pick up Metroid Prime and Zelda as they come out. Don't need a memory card as I have the one from when I had the GC before. Anyway, thats the current thing going through my head.
Blame my credit card taunting me while I'm ill for this happening.
Right, well I'm off to ponder more on this and decide on how I'm going to pay for it all if I decide to go shopping tomorrow.

They cut Pokemon out!?

It's strange that great games just seem to draw you to them, way back when I was little I got my first Gameboy; I had no idea about games, consoles or anything. And I looked at a price list of games for some shop and I just chose The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, and it's a fantastic game, and a fantastic series.

Definatly. :-) I remember back when I had my NES - before I bought mags. Every game I chose was on gut instinct and thanks to that, I never knew what was about to happen at any point in a game. :-)

I'm reading about Zelda Wind Waker, but I refuse to read anything thats too detailed so that I avoid anything thats gonna spoil my experience of playing it. :-)

Thanks to not knowing sod all about the new Pokemon in Sapphire and Ruby, its been a much better experience with some damn close fights thanks to not knowing the types. Had to practically learn from scratch again. ;-)

Looking at some of the Pokemon in the new games, I can't wait to see them on the GC. :-) Have to admit though, I do miss some of the old Pokemon that haven't made it into the new games.

It's too rea;istic. I can understand why a car finatic would enjoy it. But, going round corners at 4 mph doesn't give me any thrills. Burnout - Going round corners at 100 mph however, is just what i need...

I'm going to import Ruby as soon as I can be bothered to get my SP.

Over the years I've realised that even preveiws in magazines can spoil certain aspects of games, so now I don't really read anything about games, I just pick them on description alone.

And so far it's payed off, the only GC/GBA game I regret buying is Starfox, and I get the joy and wonder of being confronted by a Pokemon I never knew existed (and of course, I have no idea what type it is or what attacks it will have), and seeing areas in Metroid I didn't know were in it etc.

It's a much better way :D

Hehe

I've clocked up about the same figure on Phantasy Star Online over the past week, some games are just too addictive.

Oh and for anyone who cares - I've clocked up like 90 hours on Pokemon Sapphire, which is why I haven't made an appearance for like a week. ;-))
Excellent game - so damn addictive and where I've bought the game pretty early, its nice to have that excitement again of not knowing what you're Pokemon will look like when they evolve. ;-)

Thats the thing with the official release here - by the time it arrives, the mags and other sources have ruined a lot of the surprises !
For all those waiting for this game though - you'll love it, it rules ! ;-)

The original F-Zero was an excellent game, but I think its move onto the N64 is where it introduced what was really needed - the ability to smash your opponents into the barriers or off the track altogether.

Mario Kart is fun, but I think its more of a game to have a laugh with friends than really a competitive game of skill. The players in anything but 1st place tend to get things like red shells, etc - which means that a player can suck all through the race, but then get a decent weapon on the last lap that gives them a cheap win.
Of course this can be both a good and a bad point. Good because it keeps races unpredictable, even with novice players against experienced players. Bad in that at the end of the day, you can have all the experience in the world but still get a royal screw job right at the end thanks to some dodgy git getting a lightning weapon or something.
Of course there have been short cuts to find out in the game before but this is another thing I don't really like at times as I see it as another cheap way of winning.

For me F-Zero is the clear winner of any racing game because theres very little in the way of shortcuts, the physical part of the game comes down to the players taking risks (such as being on an area with no barriers and attempting to take out another racer which could lead to things backfiring) and the general racing is just damn superb. I love the speed of the game and the way it still handles well (unlike games like poxy Wipeout) and I love the way that there are so many competitors in a race with so many different winners.
With Mario Kart, it tends to pick a rival for you then you have to make sure your placed very high at the finish in order to make sure you reach the end with the trophy. F-Zero on the other hand has taken the direction of making all the competitors pretty equal.
One racer could be doing really well, next thing you know and they've been put out of the race thanks to someone barging them off (and its not always the player responsible for it). Same goes for the player - you could do really badly during one race, but a couple of good results later and fortune can change so its never really over till the last race a lot of them time. :-)

The ultimate F-Zero experience is when you'll be able to play a grand prix mode with a friend or 2 and have the full amount of competitors on the track still. Once thats achieved, I don't think any racing game will stand a chance in beating it.

i've played for hours on GT mode and not got bored. Nothing beats doing up your car with your winnings trying to get the max performance out of it.

I need batteries...

I'd ask my Mum but she'd try and buy them off e-bay for twice the price she usually does.
