Noticed how games nowadays just seem to be more of the same but with better graphics and sound? The latest new genre arguably could be the "stealth" element injected notably by Metal Gear Solid on the PSX platform, but this strategy appears in many other games today, the latest being, to some degree, Deus Ex.
What will be the next genre....
If you can think of an idea for a genre that has not already been rehashed into many other games, then you have found a niche, and having the proper backing means you can exploit this niche to the full. What price the copyright on a good genre?
Any other bright ideas? Because I dried up after this one, and anyway, it was attempted back in the 80s on the Spectrum platform, but the name of the game eludes me. You had to use a "modem" to crack a conspiracy that was brewing. Never did get to the end of it, but the genre was novel and perhaps underdeveloped on later platforms.
That would work, also a Football hooligan em up would be nice choose your club, choose your mascot and your in for some fighting fun.
> How about a rock climbing sim?
It took you 4 months to come up with THAT?

I think it is only a matter of time and careful planning to hit the gaming world with a new genre. I mean the could be anysort of genre possible, for instance, fishing, farming, life, building houses.
Maybe a building game is next, Forget Bob, )insert your own name here) will be the new builder on he block! I think that would be good, Or maybe a RPG racing game like a game based on the Canonball Run series! They were ace and I would love to do that......noy a bad Idead actually.
Come to think of it, Mixing the genres might be the key to defining new ones. I mean you could have and RPG where you were a little Man and he fought throughbattles to find a steering wheel and then he had to win a rece to save the girl. That is a bit OTT but you get the picture and you know what I don't think it will be to long before we see this mixing genres thing happen!
