I'm sorry, but I would have to say James Bond is the Dog's nuts when it comes to cool, He has three games (on vaerious consoles, four if you include that cr*p on the Game Boy) and a load of films about him (13?). However, you could discount him, because rather than being a game character, he is a film character put into a game. I still think he's cool though (think of all the women he bones! Should be more of that in the games!!).
sephiroth from ff7 is very cool.
Ryu from street fighter is very cool, dante is cool but not very cool without his weapons.

the ninja from mgs 1 on the playstation was very cool.
The coolest character ever has to be Dante he is so KOOL! in the cut scenes he so kool and skillful.
