He considered himself a respectable kind of guy, clean cut, tried not to tread on anyone’s toes.

Doubled up on his bed, arms wrapped around his head as if it would somehow alleviate the pressure inside his skull, Davis tried to block everything from his mind.
He spluttered out a couple of weak coughs and thought about calling in sick.
No, not today. An important meeting at 2, and he’d have to prepare before lunch.

Squinting, his bedroom slipped into focus. Unsteadily he got to his feet and cautiously made his way to the wardrobe.

45 minutes later he pulled into his usual parking space. He mopped several beads of sweat from his face and, relieved to have arrived safely, made his way to the council’s office building.

“Morning John” his secretary greeted him, “My, you don’t look well today. Can I get you anything? A glass of water?”
“No thanks Sue” he replied. He hated the way she would act so motherly towards him. And it was just his luck to get stuck with an old woman. Now Lucy from Legal Services, there was a secretary. And he was sure Johnson was sleeping with her…
“By the way,” she snapped him from his somewhat hazed thoughts, “Mr Richards stopped by, he said he wanted to see you when you arrive.”
“Thanks Sue” he replied, setting down his briefcase and turning for his boss’s office.

His head was pounding as he walked down the corridor. He felt himself gradually becoming detached from his body. His sense of balance slipped from him. Steadying himself against a wall his vision began to close out. As he dropped to his knees he registered noises, voices, but couldn’t make out individual words.
Finally consciousness abandoned him.

Most of them attended his funeral, his colleagues. Except Johnson, who had booked the weekend away. “He’d have understood…” A few people cried, everyone moved on.

It wasn't a bad read Dr Duck but it was very short and I couldn't get the jist of it much.

Normally I'd post something like that in life.

But I'm not going there so much these days as it's full of war and stuff. This forum on the other hand has seemed a little dry recently, so I figured I'd chuck it in, maybe see what the response was.

The coolest ISP ever!
In my opinion, the ISP is the best I have ever used. They guarantee 'first time connection - everytime', which they have never let me down on.
Continue this excellent work...
Brilliant! As usual the careful and intuitive production that Freeola puts into everything it sets out to do, I am delighted.
