Hi,

Before I start, I just want to clarify that I am NOT gay, never was gay and never will be gay.

I was wondering what everyone has against homosexuals. For example, in Brighton there are a lot of gay men and there is a place on one of the cliffs that is where gay people sit up on the benches and talk or try to get a boyfreind etc. Last year, a tourist went up to this part of the cliff, unaware of what usually happes there, to have a cigarette. When another man made an advance on him, he went psyco and fought him of the edge of the cliff, where this poor gay bloke fell to his death on the beach about 50 ft below. Do you think he would have done that if it was an unattractive woman who made an advance on him? Of course not. Therefore, he must have had something against gays.

He is currently serving time for manslaugter.

Another thing - at school people are always shout at one another "...you gay!" or "...batty boy..." What is the problem with gays? People watch V. Graham Norton and find it funny - and if you don't, it's probably because you don't like gay men.

I don't see the problem with them - the people who are agianst them are probably the guys who watch porn - usually with lesbians in it. So you like lesbians - but not gays?

What's the problem?

Has anyody here stopped to think about who is reading these messages? For all you know some people on SR could be homosexual and people like Alex are making them feel really uncomfortable to say the least. Who cares if someone is homosexual/bisexual or not? It doesn't effect you and aslong as they are happy you have no reason to knock them. I personally don't mind these kind of people at all and think anyone who is simple minded enough to get upset by something that doesn't even effect them is more repulsive than any of them.

Hi. Do you have anything useful to say? If not, then your tagline is very appropriate for what I am about to say...

Heh! Kind of annoyed me yesterday when one of my mates goes "Graham Norton's funny and he gets away with being gay!", as if it's a problem. I'm really not bothered by them at all. Although I can understand how people can be sickened by it and all the crap that teachers come out with about how gays are the same as us, is just wrong, but it doesn't make them bad people.

I also think they should be allowed to kiss in public, just as "normal" people do.

While Alex could probably have put his point across a little better, he shouldn't be slammed for his opinion. He is perfectly entitled to say it's disgusting if that is what he feels.

I personally don't care what two consenting adults get up to in their own time, but some people *are* sickened by the thought of what goes on between homosexual couples. It's an opinion, they are entitled to it, and whatever the social climate they should not be told or have it forced upon them that they are wrong, because they're not.

Just as most of us find necrophilia, paedophilia and bestiality disgusting, so some people find homosexuality disgusting; that will never change, and there's nothing actually wrong with that in my opinion. I have no hatred of homosexual people, but my (somewhat simplified) reasoning is that it can't be 'normal' or 'natural' because if it was, we'd all be doing it, and the human race would die out.

A lot of it is also perception, though. I have a friend who hates gay men, but is absolutely fascinated by lesbians. Being male, I personally also find lesbians far easier to accept than gay men - don't ask me why, because I don't know! But then I also know women who find the thought of lesbians disgusting, but are fascinated by gay men.

And then of course you have the bisexuals, who enjoy the grass on both sides of the fence! :-)

I've nothing against gay people in as much as I wouldn't meaningfully insult them or wish any harm on them.

In fact, I have a cousin who is gay. His name is Ben - or 'Bendy Benny' as we affectionately call him.

But I do consider it to be unnatural, and will probably never find it really "acceptable".

That said, I do like Graham Norton, Julian Clary and Eddy Izzard - I find them all extremely funny men.
