What really happens is her suit transforms the area around her body but she doesn't change shape at all.

Later on you will find Space Pirate logs about how they tried to imitate the morph ball, and ended up with many a crushed and disfigured Pirate.


Oh, and the morph ball is bigger than you'd think, about a metre in diameter, which is big enough to accomodate a rolled up person.
