Pop dream is over for Rik

Pop Idol's heavyweight hero Rik Waller today pulled out of the TV competition after he was told he risked causing permanent damage to his vocal cords.

In a bizarre twist, the withdrawl of 20-stone Waller, 20, has given Popstars dropout Darius Danesh a last-minute reprieve.
Rik had been suffering from the flu for a couple of weeks but had been battling on.

Today, Rik's father Kris, 52, said: "To say he is devastated is an understatement."

So why did he go and eat like loads of food? :o)

I think they all just feel sorry for him.

Seeing as his whole thing was "I'm fat but I deserve it", then referring to his mass is not unfair.

So another wannabe crashes out and ends up serving food.

Id Darius wins any pop event or releases any songs i am moving to Canada.

Have you noticed that not one article on any format has referred to Rik without a reference to his weight in the same sentence?

Given that it is Fat Bloke speaking out I dont think this is an ITV move... or another 'vote for me because I'm pathetic' plea from fat blokes camp

Unless its just another advetising thing (I remember when his Dad was on the news about the e-mail thing)

I suspect the fat blighter will provide a surprise presto-chango voice recovery and win the compo...

Everyone voted for him beacuase he is fat. He does have a really good voice but last week he didn't deserve to go through. Last week Aaron and Sarah should of gone through (Aaron did go through).

Someone said something about Gareth's stutter. It does dissapear when you sing. I have heard other people that stutter sing, they loose it when they sing. Saying everyone vote's for Gareth beacause of the stutter is the same as voting for Rik 'cos he is fat. I dont think people were persuaded to vote for Gareth because of his stutter. Thats why he got 62% of votes. No one else got anywhere near that.
