The X-Box, and to a lesser degree the Game cube kick flying dung out of the specs of PS2. It doesn't bode well for the future!
Also does anyone know of any sites to get a region hacker for media player, or the DVD player on Windows XP. Cause as I'm sure you all know, you can change the region, but only like 3 times and then it stays that way permanetly, what an annoyance!

PS2 have much better extras than GameCube. PS2 has DVD player and internet where you will eventually be able to download games for free. GameCube did have a DVD player but they gave up on releasing that in the UK and GC has basically no decent extra's.

What I don't get is why N64 had better graphics and was faster than PS2 but yet most of the games were cartoon games like Mario.

Looking at the Special Reserve magazine N64 has got about 4 times as little games as only the PS2 games (not including PSX/1 games). The worst thing about GameCube is you can't play N64 games on it because Nintendo have change to Disks (If you ask me the N64 should of had disks not cartriges which are too small in storage but at least you can save on them). I'm not sure about GameCube but I know there's a Emulator pack for PS2 so you can play Gameboy games on your PS2.

My opinion is PS2 will be better than GC but I'm not sure about X-Box which looks okay but probably have to struggle to get in with Nintendo and PS2. Although I would consider buying a GC, if I didn't have a PS2 I might of bought the GC if it was out then.

Also, from http://special.reserve.co.uk/news/story.php?id=1337 ...

"It wasn't just the Xbox and Gamecube which had a good week of sales, PlayStation 2 sales also went up 83% from the previous week, with Game Boy Colour and Game Boy Advance sales also rising. For an industry now bigger than the movie industry, it shows no signs of stopping."

So I'm not worried!

They've had good initial sales, but remember that Sony simply couldn't supply enough machines to meet the demand, and that they still have a commanding lead.

PS2 has already sold enough units that developers can't afford to ignore it.

Ah, but there may be a reason to be worried over the other consoles doing well.

Game developers want to produce games for the best selling console.

With the Gamecube and X-box selling so well in the USA, and apparently breaking the records set by the PS2 it could be a very close console war indeed.

There are already rumours flying about that Capcom want to completly jump ship to Nintendo, and the resi evil series moving may just be a sign of things to come.

I agree with Pro Evo, the X-Box might graphically be superb and the Gamecube may be the purist's console, but when it comes to PS2, the most enjoyable games are at home on our console. And as for all these people that go on about jagged edges on PS2 games, they're just not concentrating on the right things are they?

I'll be surprised if the Gamecube does better than the N64, a genuine lack of software. With the X-Box, do we really want to play a souped-up version of Abe?

I'll keep my PS2 and keep on playing the recent and best PS2 releases, thankyou very much!!

Oh yes, i am very worried about what the other consoles will do.......nah, to be honest i dont care what the other consoles will do, i have my PS2 and thats all that matters to me. Whats it matter if they sell better? If you have a PS2 and you enjoy playing it thats all that matters, its not like the amount sold effects you is it?

Im more worried about what games shall i play, there are too many games coming out that i want.

Its not just console specs that make a console do well. The PS1 had to compete with the N64. If we go by specs then the N64 should have beaten out the PS1. It all comes down to games. Nintendo's Gamecube I think will do really well. The X-Box on the other hand I'm not so sure about. Think its gonna have a hard job pushing its way in. Its got a couple of games that look nice, but theres nothing thats making me scream and beg for the system right now.

I will get a Gamecube though which will sit nicely next to my PS2 ;-)

What DVD player software have you got?

I have got a site bookmarked on my other PC with the URL of a site which had loads of region hacks. I'll post it on here sometime later today.
