They said that the nintendo gamecube has slashed its prices all over europe as it is desperately struggling to sell. They also reckon that the GC has barely even sold 1.5 million all across europe! this is not what I have been hearing!

I wouldn't say the BBC has any kind of grudge against Nintendo. Regardless of what a newsround report or BBC website says, I doubt the BBC have a grudge. But in my opinion most forms of press (except specialised game sites/mags) have booger all idea about gaming. Gaming mags don't try and review music, or bring us the latest on the war in Iraq, or try to rate the top 100 women, so why do music mags, newspapers and stuff like FHM try to review games...? Most of the time they come across as ill-informed retards. I'm not saying these people's opinions aren't valid, but they generally give a game a review in about 50 words, with one screenshot. Honestly, a review like that is helping no-one. Who will fork out £30-£40 for a game based on a review in a newspaper...? Any takers...? I rest my case.

hahaha, right in every way. I agree totally.
first of all, its totally stupid to even try to compare sales for consoles that were released about 1 and a half years apart(yes?), and comparing gamecube sales in EUROPE and PS2 in THE WHOLE WORLD, (YES, THATS RIGHT, NOT JUST 1 CONTINENT, BUT 7!!)is also totally stupid.
plus, go onto their vote for yer fave console thing, and u'll see that gamecube is beating X-box..... so Newsround, it cant be that unpopular can it!----"It's had big competition from Microsoft's Xbox which sells for £159."...like hell it has!

This Gamecube story just shows how ignorant Newsround is to the gaming world, so christ knows how they report and more important real world news stories.
And we all know it's easily sailed-past the 1.5-million mark since launch on May 3rd last-year!! :P
The BBC don't usually like Nintendo, or the GameCube, and will usually do all they can to try and make things look worse for it than they really are.
However, in saying that, I was very surprised to read over the weekend that SONY-fanboy Dave Gibbon (the guy who writes for Ceefax's GameStation bit) seemed to LOVE Metorid Prime, and didn't have a single-bad-thing to say about it!!
Either he's recieved a lot of insulting e-mails lately that've made him cry and realise he's doing a bad-job; or he just loves games that are surrounded by bucket-loads of hype...
