The PlayStation 2 utilises USB functionality to connect to additional peripherals, so your first step will be to pick a USB modem. However, it can’t be any modem, it *has* to be a Diamond SupraMax External 56K USB modem, they retail at around £40 and can be bought from Dixons, SR, PC World etc.
Got that? Right, hook it up to your PlayStation 2 and switch the machine on with Tony Hawk’s 3 in the PlayStation 2.
Go to Options, then the Network Setup screen and select Hardware Setup. Then, select USB Modem from the displayed list.
Once you have performed the above task, select Connection Settings and select ISP Phone Number. From here, enter the ISP Phone Number your PC dials-up to the Internet. This can be any ISP *except* AOL.
From the Connection Settings menu select User Name. Enter the username you use to log on to the Internet and then go back to the Connection Settings menu and select Password. Enter your password - remember text entry is case sensitive.
From the Connection Settings menu select Done, then return to the Main Menu.
Select Network Play from the main menu, then choose Internet. At this point your modem should dial-up and connect you to the online world of Tony Hawk’s.
