So you have probably heard about Andy Grey's (and R. Keyes) predicament, whereby he seems to have taken a leaf out of Russell Brands book (which is awful by the way).

What do you make of it?
Keeping my opinion in short bursts, this is what I believe to be true.
-Female assistants should be allowed in the game, as long as they do the job right.
-Sian Massey had a good game, she made all the decisions correctly (how many linos can say that).
-AG and RK made irrelevant comments, and were insulting. Not intended maybe, but insulting none the less.
-Sky are undoubtedly over-reacting but clamping down on it is needed in some sense, before it becomes a joke
In short, they should have been disciplined, and made a public apology. Being fired was too much. Sian Massey did a good job. Despite Burton's comments.she wasn't a looker...............

Keyes is probably worse for his actions afterwards. His reaction to being "found out" was quite humorous.

Grey wasn't fired because of these comments, they were the straw that broke the camels back. Based on what I have heard the past couple of days this wasn't the first time he has been warned over such behaviour and his sacking game thanks the emergence of a video of him offering the contents of his pants to the lovely Charlotte Jackson (video since removed from youtube).
As for Keys? Don't be surprised if he follows Mr Grey out the door...

As far as I managed to see, she got all the decisions correct. I think the "someone should go down there and teach her the offside rule" was incredibly insulting and served to undermine Keys'/Grey's status *because* she was right. Shows how much they know.
Do I think it was harsh that they got sacked over it? Yes, probably. But having been doing football on Sky for 18/19 years, they should a) know better and b) not be immune to disciplinary action. It's not the first time that "off-air" comments have come back to haunt people (Gordon Brown was heard to say that she was a bit of a bigoted lineswoman [citation needed]) and professionals need to be careful about what they say around microphones.
As for her being a "looker"...well she is in comparison to most of the linespeople and referees in the premiership ;~)
