I started (but failed) to renew a domain yesterday PM - I see this was related to LINX having further issues.

You've closed the item on your Service Status page but FYI I'm still having plenty of pages failing to load or half broken etc. etc. this morning.

I'll look later to see if things are stable before getting my CC out!

Customer sites on Standard Hosting seem unaffected but it looks like other hosting is involved.

NB. I tried alerting you via your Twitter account yesterday when all Freeola pages we unreachable. If you guys have stopped using Twitter perhaps you should put a message up and/or close the account?

FYI various Freeola pages including MyFreeola & Forums have been unavailable for about 30 mins for me (via Freeola connection) - I managed to raise a Support Ticket this time! :¬)

This was an '04 reg, 5 seats. The 1.6 110's are generally 05 or 55 reg.

Maybe a wise decision Eccles, it does sound 'suspect' - service book without 'paper copies' would generally indicate 'bought from an auction'....service books are removed (and have a reg number written on them) but everything else is destroyed! Only way to 'double-check' the history is to contact the servicing agent quoting job number and see what their records produce!

Would the 307SW in question be 5 or 7 seats and what 'reg'?

However, maybe my access to CAP is different to yours....you go through a 'third-party' and I go direct and free. It would be interesting to compare results :¬)

Thanks for the offer of help DL. I think CAP is basically what you can subscribe to through Parkers isn't it? I've paid the small subscription fee for a months access while I hunt around. Just test drove a 307 SW 2.0 136BHP SE Diesel (81000 miles) today, which was a very nice car, except it was £5000, which appears to be about £1000 above the market value for an independent dealer (It had the colour RT3 sat nav but I don't think that justifies adding £100 to the price!). Plus their idea of full service history was not the same as mine (they only had the log book with all the stamps, no receipts or invoices to back up what was actually done at each service). Just been serviced and cambelted but as they forgot to reset the service indicator I have just an invoice to go on. Wouldn't budge on the price and only managed to squeeze 6 months tax and a years MOT out of them so think I'll leave that one!

Still, insurance is a bit steep for that one so I think we're looking at the 1.6 110 BHP Diesel SE instead, preferably the facelift model, which should be around £3500 - £4000, just not finding many priced right yet.

Ah right, makes sense! Thanks for that. Shame, not very many good deals around at the moment for the cars we're looking at but we need one very soon.

Evenin Eccles,

Should have thought of this earlier but as I have only 5 'working days' left maybe I can help you in your vehicle 'search'. At work I have access to the CAP value of all vehicles - new and old - ie market value for new or market value for used...it's a very useful guide if your are selling and buying - basically tells you the 'worth' of your vehicle and of course the 'value' of the one you intend to buy....without dealer/trader 'add-ons' :¬)

If you want to post the basic details of your vehicle and the ones you are looking at, then I can check CAP and give the 'realistic' value. It does give you a good idea and obviously a 'heads-up' on the prices you may be quoted :¬)

Basic details ie

Corsa SXI Petrol Reg yr 2004 3 or 5 door 105,000 miles

Focus 1.6 Style Reg yr 2008 5 door 30,000 miles

That's it....let me know....can do until 20th January :¬)

CAP

EDIT:

CAP values come in three 'flavours':

CAP Clean - below average mileage, very good condition
CAP Average - as it says, reasonable condition for age etc
CAP Below - above average mileage and a 'shed'

Definitely worth doing something with it one way or another.
The last Tweet was July 2010 so doesn't give a good impression IMO.

A lot of providers are using Twitter to good effect.

Get an insurance quote first as well!

No changes, no claims...

Checked with my insurer and they confirmed it was the right price and that everything has gone up :¬(

Sorry for being dumb but why the wait until Feb?

Sorry for totally changing the subject!

Evenin Eccles...not changing the subject, but I work within a 'global' motor auction company and apart from being made redundant in 9 days....the saleability of cars through the auctions to traders and dealers is falling because the original vendor wants too much and not a realistic price. The traders and dealers are tied but there are signs that within the next few weeks sale prices will reflect the present climate more....so for you this ultimately means better deals ie forecourt prices and part-exchanges :¬)

Things seem to be working well this morning :¬)

Yes things seem ok as of about 5.30pm yesterday. We have information that this was caused by a switch port fault at LINX that affected the peering link from LINX to the datacentre that houses our services (and affected a few other providers). It wasn't packet loss as such, just that some packets were taking a very long time to reach their destination, which some software, such as webservers do not deal with and timeout the packet, hence appearing as very slow loading or packet loss.

I will have a word with the people who setup our Twitter account and see what the state of play is with it.
