I started (but failed) to renew a domain yesterday PM - I see this was related to LINX having further issues.

You've closed the item on your Service Status page but FYI I'm still having plenty of pages failing to load or half broken etc. etc. this morning.

I'll look later to see if things are stable before getting my CC out!

Customer sites on Standard Hosting seem unaffected but it looks like other hosting is involved.

NB. I tried alerting you via your Twitter account yesterday when all Freeola pages we unreachable. If you guys have stopped using Twitter perhaps you should put a message up and/or close the account?

How many more days do you have left (got a few more reg's I could do with some free info on if you don't mind!)? Do you have anything line up to move onto yet or are you going to ditch the motor trade a pursue a different career?

Ha ha, nothing lined up as yet...just going to take the money and run :¬) Got confirmation to-day of the final 'interview' - 9.30am Friday.

Career wise..I'm a bit too long in the tooth for career aspirations :¬D No, I'll take my time and peruse the scene..part-time jobs are available within our village and word of mouth has already alerted me to a few possibilities...one as a part-time postman :¬)

Anyway, these reg's...no problem...tomorrow and Thursday are available. If I could have them tonight, then I can report back tomorrow evening....:¬)

That would be me searching then! Interestingly Tesco's came out tops with a full comp quote of £700 for my wife an I. No other insurer came close and Aviva quoted over £2000! We're now looking at the newer facelift 1.6 HDI SE models as the tax is lower and so is the insurance.
Thanks for looking that up. The Experian HPI service for car buyers shows the same info minus any previous searches and if you buy a car you have done a check on and register the VIN against the check then they insure you for loss should the info they provided prove to be incorrect.

Evening Eccles....soz, but didn't see your post until 4.15pm. Anyway the Experian provides some information of interest but at least it has no information in the High Risk catagories :¬) Brief synopsis:

307SW SE HDI Grey 6 gears 1997cc

1st registered 30/11/04; Current V5C 08/06/10. 2 previous keepers, most recent change 01/06/10; other change 27/09/05.

14 previous searches - mainly from Motor Trade, Insurer and Finance Co. Interestingly it does show that this vehicle was sold through an Auction in June 05 - which would indicate that it had been a fleet vehicle and regularly serviced. However after this date...who knows :¬) The last search was from an Insurer on 14/01/11.

Yeah I always start bargaining much lower than the Parkers price or the price I'm prepared to pay, I try and get the dealer to justify the price they want and so far this is where they come unstuck and I walk away. Still, still there are plenty out there, just have to find and check them out. Perhaps I'm just picky.

The cars reg is KP54 YUJ.

Thanks for that. There are 20 SE versions to choose from so I'm guessing the figures you qouted are around the 'half way spec'. I have access to HPI checks if that's the Experian service you are referring to?
Bit of a minefield this used car stuff!

The figures I've seen quoted on your Parkers link are somewhat inflated. The ones I quoted are nearer the mark compared to the 'links' suggestion, if you add another 21,000 miles ;¬(

The figures I quoted are 'as is' CAP ....everywhere else will base their figures on these. The CAP values are decreased by £25 each month across the board. At the end of the day, the choice is yours..but value for money will depend on your budget, your reading of the figures and the dealers you are looking at. The Parkers site gives a 'good' impression but believe me, take it with a 'pinch of salt'.

As a method of checking the validity of this 307 SW, for example, give me the reg and I'll check Experian for it's history....this will give a good idea of 'where' it's been :¬)

Ah your CAP values seem to be more inline with what Parkers give for the S models. To be fair to the dealer there was only on very minor dent below the drivers door. All the other panels were fine and there was no sign of a respray.

Edit: Can you check the CAP using the reg?

These values were for the car you quoted....an SE :¬)

CAP can only be applied to the 'very obscure and sometimes vague' descriptions from the manufacturers - CAP is often very difficult to apply to the precise vehicle, so a 'yardstick' value will be quoted :¬( So many minor changes etc etc can alter the value and will not figure in the 'global' value.

CAP cannot be matched to a reg. But Expirian can! This won't give a value but it will give 'hidden' history, if any. I can access this but only until close of play on Thursday! So if you want an Expirian, i'll need the reg.

Damage to look for is usually on the left-side...near side to you. (As a vehicle inspector we use left and right sides to report vehicle damage.) On this side you will usually find gouged alloys, dents and repairs. Be very careful when looking for repairs...even the best can look good! Silver is the best and the worst for 'showing/hiding' repairs. Also, run your finger along the tops of the seams - body panels and bonnet edges - if they feel 'rough' - it's been repaired.

Just test drove a 307 SW 2.0 136BHP SE Diesel (81000 miles) today, which was a very nice car, except it was £5000, which appears to be about £1000 above the market value for an independent dealer (It had the colour RT3 sat nav but I don't think that justifies adding £100 to the price!).

Evening Eccles....

Regarding the 'above', just out of interest I checked our CAP values for your 'very nice car'. While the figures below do suggest a very different story, I cannot believe that this vehicle was in such a pristine condition at 81,000 miles that you were asked for £5k. Yes, I have seen an occasional one that 'bucks the trend' but Peugeots, like all French cars, tend to come with manufacturer's dents - the metal used for the body shell tends to be much thinner and is prone to damage from even the slightest 'touch'.

However, here are the CAP values:

CAP clean £2,700
CAP average £2,175
CAP below average £1,650

At £5,000 it would be more than £1,000 above market value :¬)
