If you go to this link you'll see that Sony are releasing Ps2 with HDD and modem from the box. Thats what I thought when the price dropped here and in Japan, I was seeing that after the price of Ps2 has dropped to a certein level it will be possible for the Ps2 to be with a HDD and modem out of the box for the price of £300 (the original launch price in the UK). So what I'm thinking is that when the bundle arrives in the UK it will be charged at the price of £299.

So what Im thinking is if this is going to happen what are they going to do to those who owned a Ps2 from launch when it was a bit more expensive do we have to shell out more cash for it or are they gonna send the to us for mo extra cost?

But it looks like its a long way off for us gamers in th UK as it isnt out yet in Japan yet.

And those who paid £300!!!!

Sure its not so fair on those who spent £300 on just the console at launch, but thats life.

Stop complaining and start saving! :D

when i got my ps2 it was a week before they released gt3 package, as i got my station with gt3 they sent me a voucher redemable at any store selling ps2 products for the difference in price of my package and the new gt3 package. which was nice!... but i dont think they will do anything like that for the hdd or anything else they add to the package.

i do agree that owning the ps2 a year earlier than most people was worth that extra £100. I also am looking to get a HD when it comes out but am not really sure of the price and someone also said they are not getting the internet on their ps2. If for nothing else the second i heard that FFXI was coming out on ps2 and was totally online that is the second i decided to get my ps2 online as soon as possible. Also does anyone know if tony hawk 3 is online becasue the adverts keep saying it is but it will be ages before we get the online capabilities over here wont it?

I got mine back in September, and traded in my PS One and many games to get the price down to about the £250 mark (can't remember exactly) - but, I've never looked back and never once expected Sony to give me some kind of compensation for the price drops - that's just plain silly.

I bought my machine on release day, and am perfectly happy that I have had well over £300 worth of enjoyment out of it. Certainly more than if I had spent £300 on booze...

Amen, SlaveUnit. Absolutely spot on. Those who paid full-whack - be thankfull you had the joy of owning a PS 2 before the others. You have had more time to appreciate it, and have had the joy of seeing the software develop and mature. YOU could be considered the lucky ones.

So if you bought a brand new car and then the next year they offered leather seats for free, would you go down and get a free set fitted to your car?

Or if you bought a chocolate bar, and the next batch had 20% free, does that mean cadbury are going to send you 20% of another bar?

Of course not. People who paid full whack are going to get nothing back, it's the same with every product ever sold. The PS1 was £300 at the start, and now it is £80, and the PS2 is looking the same, as PS1 dropped to £200 to meet competition. You have a choice. You can pay the going rate or you can wait until the price falls.

If you want anything, you have to pay the current price for it.

I probably won't get a HDD unless they bring out a cheap 10GB drive seeing as the only way it can improve gaming would be in loading times.I would just use it to store saves and download things off the net.
