On another web-board I populate, there's a guy I've spoken to on-and-off for over 2 years.
He asked about how my band was going and offered to do some photos for us, being a photographer.
So he emails me and sends me a link to his portfolio so I can have a peek at it.
Unbelievable.
This guy has shot some heavyweights, and he's offering to do stuff for us for free.
Examples of people he has taken photos of:
Directors:
Danny Boyle
Mike Leigh
Derek Jarmen
Authors:
James Ellroy
William Gibson
Nick Hornby
Irwing Welsh
Joseph Heller (This man wrote Catch-22 for chrissakes!!!)
Martin Amis
Actors:
Michael Palin
Richard Wilson
Stephen Fry
Politicians:
Tony Benn
Tony Parsons
Alan Clark
But most importantly for me, the thing that made me squeal like a little girl?
Portrait photos of Bill Hicks.
3 pics of Bill Hicks in a dressing room somewhere.
My absolute, all-time hero. A guy that forms a large part of who I am today as a person, and some guy I talk to on the net took portrait photos of him and is offering to take photos of my band.
Karma/Fate/Coincidence...call it what you will.
To me these are all signs that I am doing what I was made for, and connections all tie in.
Fantastic and superb. I can't explain how stupidly happy I am right now.
