We're all wonderfully individual people, yes? And by that individuality, we all have different tastes.
We also, as people, have experiences that we would love to share with others. Our lives are just one great big experience, and we can learn much from studying our own lives.
So... tell me. Is there something you want everyone to do? Listen to a piece of music? Visit somewhere? Talk to someone, ask them anything? Have sex? Watch a film? Read a book? Play a game? Anything! If you loved the experience, then why not share it with us, and try and convince us to do what you did.
And anyone who reads it, I think, should make every effort to do so. Hell, we live just the once, right? So why shouldn't we try and sample everything we can?
Come on then, what do you want us to do?
(First: "Shut up?")
(Second: "Oh! I was going to write that!")
Download a piece of music called "The Ecstasy of Gold" by Ennio Morricone, it's part of the soundtrack to The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly, and the title fits the music perfectly.
I didn't used to dance at parties and it clubs and stuff, ever.
I was too self conscious, thought I looked stupid.
But now I don't care, and do whatever the fun I feel.
My new favourite is slow motion running on the spot.
This dance gets you some funny looks, but I don't care, I can't stop laughing.
No more shuffling my feet, with slight hand movements for me. I'm longer conforming ot the rules of the dance floor.
People will probably think I'm gay, but so what if they do!
Lenny Williams: 'Cause I still love you (i think its called)
I came across it by accident (ish), Lenny used to be the lead singer in my favourite band, Tower of Power, he then released some solo stuff.
This tune is very good, oh and try not to take the tune too seriously, trust me, Lenny wouldn't :-)
At least I'm not alone in thinking it rules!
> And Gil Scott Heron "The revolution will not be televised"
I don't know that one (yet) but in a Pulp song "The day after the revolution" one of the lyrics is "The revolution was televised, yeah".
Anyway, go listen to some Pulp. Try and find some of the songs from the latest album, such as 'Weeds' or 'I love life'.
Alternatively listen to Common People, and think about those Secondary school kids that went around with T-shirts splashed with an "I'm Common" logo. They really didn't get it, did they?
Listen to Beck.
Loser is a fantastic song, then there's the whole of the Odelay album, which was almost titled 'Robot Jazz'. Midnite Vultures is a good listen too.
In the run up to Christmas watch A Christmas Carol. Not just any version, but The Muppets version. Michael Caine plays Scrooge. It really is my favourite version of the tale, and never fails to bring a tear to my eye. Usually when Kermit is talking about the position of Tiny Tim's grave, by the pond, as he would have loved to have seen the ducks.
> how can you compare muppet christmas carol to LotR?
Ooh, just bring it. I will hear no insult to LotR. Even Dogma pales in comparison.
