Okay, after failing miseably to get any joy from the likes of 'web artist' and such web design help packages, i've come to the conclusion i'll have to learn html.

Help! Does anyone know how i start learning html?
And that'd be all i need, along with my domain and hosting, to sort my web site out?
Anything by way of help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I didn't see much difference between it an 1st Page 200 )free) and Quanta (also free, and now much better).

Homesite may be good, put it IS expensive and it IS huge. It's also un necesary. I really can't reccommend anything better than 1st Page 2000 (www.evrsoft.com). I know I go on about it alot but it really is the bees knees and all you need to learn HTML. It has a built in function reference, quick tag help and it inserts all the code for you in real time. Not only are you learning HTML by example and experience, but it also helps you create good, compatable sites really quickly. What's more, it's completely free! At only 5 megs, it's worth a try.

Anyway, I have to go now and collect my cheque from Evrsoft, ta-ra ;-)

It still defies the point of wanting to "learn" HTML. Once the general grasp is there through hand coding, then WYSIWYG is great for speedy production, but as this was about the best way to "learn" i would do it all by hand first, that way, when DW or FP screw up your tables, you know what your looking for in the code to fix it!!

There's something to be said for WYSIWYG editors though. Sometimes I usually use DW for quick tables or forms, not because I can't do them but because it's so much quicker.

If you want to understand HTML properly, avoid WYSWIG editors, they do make life easier, but if somthing is wrong, you wn;t understand it unless you understand the HTML in the first place.

Anyone can do it in WYSIWYG, not all can do it by hand!

Indeed, tables are probably the hardest thing in HTML, but such graphics packages as Macromedia Fireworks do it for you with virtually no mess (virtually, mind). I never did any tutorials on HTML, I just downloaded First Page 2000 (www.evrsoft.com) and learnt through experience. I'd recommend it to anyone, almost certainly as an alternative to Notepad.

On the subject of notepad.... I think Wordpad is much better. Why? Well, ctrl+S and ctrl+R.
