....And I still feel the same as I did when I was 17 - only richer! :)

In terms of presents, I couldn't have been happier!

I took the day off School (who wouldn't on their Birthday!!) and woke-up to find over £500 in cash and cheques within all those cards I had piled-up on the table (I have a huge familly you see - several second-marriages and uncles and aunites I've never met before)! :D
But that wasn't the best part... I opened a small box to find a set of car keys (OH YES!!), and I was taken outside to be told that the silver Ford Escort that had appeared on our drive while I was at work over the weekend was actually MINE - and I'd never suspected a thing!! :D

Don't ask me what size engine it has, or which model it is, precisely, as I'm no Tim Taylor when it comes to cars! All I know is that it's 8-years-old; I'm only the second person to have owned it; my mum got it "dirt-cheap" of the same guy who got her 'Focus cheap; it has a sun-roof; and... it's silver.
I'm gonna have to pay for the Insurance, though, which costs £900-a-year, under my dad's name (would've been £1,500 with myself as the main holder).

Only problem is that I can't drive it yet! :(
I've got the L-plates; I'm still learning to drive; but we're waiting for this form to come through so it can be taxed and insured.
I love it, though! :D
(And I laugh at people like phi11ip who can drive, but don't have their own cars! ;D )

What else did I get?
A little bobbled-head of Mario to go in the rear window...
The Office: Series 1 on DVD - FINALLY!
2 CD's - QotSA's `Songs for the Deaf` (which I'm listening to now), and American Hi-Fi's new album: `The Art of Losing` (which I also like).
And that's about it! None of that cheap, useless cack that I have no space for, either (PHEW!)!

Why did I not go to School yesterday?
Well, I woke-up feeling awful - like you would after clycling home from work on Sunday, knackered, only to find a surprise party awaiting you at home. Although, I didn't really drink too much (I'm not one for getting totally drunk, you see - I don't see the point!). It was just having my hyperactive little 8-year-old nephew running around; on spoon-fulls of sugar, with his high-pitched voice... That's what really killed me!

But I enjoyed it - especially as I missed another day of School! :)
But I shouldn't gone in with coursework due in for 4-weeks-time...

I'm gonna book myself a Theory Test for next-month, and try and get myself a full-license before the end of May! Nothing's gonna stop me, now!!

It might be 20% on the pass plus, i'm not sure. I believe there is a test to take, but don't quote me.

your dad having the van is good enough, as he would in theory not want to drive the van about out of work, so you should be ok there. just be aware that he is legally the main driver, so if they ask, have your story ready.

alarm wise, make sure you go for a cat 1, which will reduce the insurance, as home kits don't. your local car audio place will be the best bet, as the gimps in halfords are not to be trusted with pushbikes, let alone cars. you wont have trouble with the planes on a decent alarm like a clifford or a toad, as they sense interior motion and the cars electrics.

Cheers. I'll look into one of those things for my MiniDisc player, then. It'll be a LOT cheaper than buying an a whole CD player for my car, having it fitted, and then getting it nicked!

And I think it's with Tesco's, the insurance thing...
My mum's obsessed with them! If they offer something, she'll buy it from/with them, without even considering anything else!
My mum was asking me if my dad's had a letter come through from Tesco's, you see. And because he doesn't shop there, that must be it.

And I can't remember what I was told, but I think it is a pretty big engine - nearly 2lt, I think?

I'll look into it...

Actually, thinking about it, £900 isnt so bad. Insurance for me on my dads car was probably cheaper becasue it had an alarm and immobiliser.

Alarms make it cheaper?!?

I didn't know that...

And I know people who have, and are, paying around £1,000+ for their insurance on similar cars.

Aye, less chance of it being broken into or stolen.

£500, a Car, some Cd's and some other stuff for your Birthday?

I'd be lucky to get the Cd's.

Me thinks it's time to trade in my family and get a newer model.
