Tricky is here! Wahoo! Great news - made even better if you bought Tony Hawks 3 or Half-Life the same day. I arrived home on the train last night and found my copy of Tricky sat on the table waiting (thanks SR). This called for a super-speedy dinner - with only occasional pauses to say hello to the family! After this, I shot upstairs to use my brother`s PS2 (He doesn`t seem to mind).

Anyway, getting to the point, I played for a couple of hours last night, and another hour this morning. I`m honestly completely stunned by the game as there are so many amazing new and improved features packed into it. Some of my favourite new parts are as follows

1) Alaska - Of the two completely new courses, this one is easily the best. Garibaldi is nice, and provides a perfect course for beginners, but its a little short, and doesn`t have nearly enough complexity to the jumps. It does look nice, but Alaska has it easily beaten for both speed and jumps. Alaska is a little overwhelming at first, as you haven`t got a clue how to get down the course the way YOU want to, rather than letting the course take you the way IT wants to. However, the speed, trick, grind and short cut potentials are amazing, making this a great addition to SSX.

2) Uber Moves - Woah! These are something else! If you wanted a reason to choose Tricky over Tony Hawks, then this is it. These moves look absolutely brilliant. So far I`ve only tried Elise and Marty (who looks suspiciously like Mac). On my first run down Garibaldi, I built up a full adrenaline bar, and up came the music... "Its Tricky...". I made it to the next big jump, prepared for Uber glory... and tripped ever before I got to the lip of the jump.

Fortunately, the course is easily big enough to build the boost again, and I was soon approaching a big jump with a second opportunity for an Uber move. Into the air... R2 then square...What the??...Legs spinning, Elise pulls of an Uber move with amazing style! Instantly I was addicted, and all I wanted to do was get to the next big jump and try another one.

Now that I`ve had a few hours to practice, Uber tricks are a major part of the package. The easiest way to win a race is to do 6 Uber moves, thus filling all 6 letters in the word "Tricky". This gives you infinite adrenaline, and makes it easy to cruise to victory.

3) Tokyo Megaplex - This is probably my least favourite course in the original game (due to its slightly gimmicky nature), but its had major rennovation, making it the Rubiks Cube of all the courses. It might not have quite the same points potential as the new pipedream course, but it is by far the most 3-dimensional of all the courses. Multiple levels give the course an edge over the competition, as its unlikely you`ll ever take the same route twice!

I`ve read the reviews, and I was told that Tricky was better than the original. They weren`t lying, as its got all the best bits of PS2`s greatest launch title, plus the fine tuning and extra additions of a truly great sequel.

Definitely. Tokyo and Snowdream are virtually unrecognisable, and are certainly preferable to the originals. Elysium and Aloha are slightly less different, but they are more packed with short cuts. Mesablanca and Merqury city are changed a lot, but are neither better or worse than the originals... just different. Then there`s pipedream... I won`t spoil this, as its worth seeing for yourself! Trouble is, it appears to be available only in single event, not world circuit.

>and what are the two new ones like?

There`s Garibaldi and Alaska. Both are amazing, though Alaska has the edge on complexity, speed and trick opportunity. With the Alaska course, its steep, icy, fast and certiainly furious. Garibaldi is more of a beginners course - though it does have huge trick score potential!

I`m itching to get back on Tricky again now, but as I`m at home, I can only use my bro`s PS2, and he`s still asleep!

Does that mean we`re going to have to start taking photos of the screen and scanning them to be put on the web, or do you trust everybody that much? Trick scores are a silly thing to lie about, but if it happens, you won`t know unless you have evidence.
