I've just been informed by my Dad that i can get a lap top. However I have no idea what one he is getting me! I upgraded my PC the second I got it with more memory and a faster processor but I'm not sure what's the best thing to do with a laptop. I'm sure it's going to be a Toshiba one and I know it will come with Windows XP but apart from that I have no idea about the specs.

You can upgrade the memory on a laptop, but that's generally about it unless you take it in to the shop and have a fat wallet
I've had a fiddle with the Acer one at school, there was a demo one and people were swarming around it.
It has to be said that the Tablet itself was very light and the recognition was amazing.
The only bad point is the spec. I think the best one around doesn't even reach 1 Gig.

Although the handwriting recognition is pretty advanced, there are still problems. I just wish there was handwriting recognition support for Visual Studio - I'd make programs much quicker that way.

Hmmm tablets just look like a mix between a really good PDA and a laptop to me. Ofcourse they have a few extra features but when the one I liked the look of was over $2000 it makes you wonder if it's worth it. Of course if you are like me and don't have that kinda money anyway the decision is made for you.

What's a tablet? I searched for it on SR and it came up with stuff like a graphics tablet which I know is not what you're talking about. Are you meaning PDAs or something totally different?
