I have absolutely no sympathy for these people whatsoever. Obviously I don't want to see them locked in a cell, but if they had used their common-sense they wouldn't be there in the first place. I'll get it out in the open now (no, not my manhood), planespotting is a chuffing weird hobbie. Where's the fun in going to airports and writing down the makes and models of airplanes? More to the point, what's the use. I can think of a good one - plotting evil terror attacks! Maybe that's why they're banged away in a greek cell? They're idiots! Who would go and do such a thing in the current global climate and expect not to get into trouble. The fact they were asked THREE times to stop before they got arrested, and didn't, beggars belief. Now the Daily Mail (never one to jump on the bandwagon if it'll improve their ratings and make them look good) has started an appeal to get them freed. They say it is an injustice, but if you ask me it's their own fault and are on a par with people who send hoax anthrax letters through the mail. There's nothing more suspicious than a bunch of people checking out a bunch of planes. You don't have to agree with me on this, but in my opinion they should be subjected to the same anti-terror laws as anthrax hoaxers.

They were turfed away from another air base two days previously as well, but didn't tell the Greeks that when they got arrested. Thanks for agreeing - I was scared you were all going to throw you thermos's and notepads at me.

I agree with monkey_man.

Okay, so maybe the Greeks could speed up their case etc., but apart from that, they deserve everything that's coming to them.

As already stated, they were asked three times not to take photos, and they were apparently listening in to pilot/tower conversations using scanners. They ignored police requests and persisted on both counts.

It does nothing to help the image of the 'arrogant Brits abroad' if these knuckle-draggers can't even obey a simple polite request from the local police, and I don't think our government is right on trying to put pressure on the Greeks to release them.

Maybe one day we'll be lucky enough to have a plane spotting game.

Imagine the thrills of that, you travel around the world (by clicking on a map) to visit airbases, and look at planes!

Only onces you're plane-dex is complete can you claim to be a Plane-mon master!
