True... but many other forums feature an Edit option, and I've rarely seen it misused.

Even so, it could be made so that you can only edit the post for a certain period after its original posting time - for example, an Edit option appeared (only to the original poster) for around 10 minutes after the original post was made.

I think it's a bad idea, you could start a post, someone replies, then change it and make the other person look a fool.......... hang-on, yeah, good idea.

Editing out the spelling errors you always notice just as you hit "Post This Message"!

Of course, this only really applies to the literate ones among us... those who are illiterate won't be bothered by this.

(Wookiee wonders if the psychology will work, making everyone sign for fear of being labelled illiterate...)

I agree, but editing your orignal posts would then take any responses to it out of centext... Things would make less sense than they do now!!
