Jeez what a serious let down!
Ever since I had my system since the famous Price drop the days of disappointment continued to gain momentum, day after day.
At first I said, hell, not a bad system. But urghh, the 'Supposed' gaming greats really showed what this system is really worth!
Ive quite a healthy selection of Title's now and I have to ask one thing: "Where on earth are all the wonderful games?" "Where on earth is the wonderful Dreamcast beating visuals?"
Yes I have to say Many of the Dreamcasts games surpass anything I have seen on PS2!
Take a look at Skies of Arcadia, wonderful visuals, wonderful game and yet there is nothing of it's type on PS2 a year in!
Sonic Adventure 2 and Even the Shenmue series would put all the PS2 title's to utter shame.
Simply being the reason that we where all promised a 'Super-Duper' visual machine coupled with the oh so supposedly lovely 'Emotion engine', but darn have I saw any evidence of visual splendour! Where Is It?
Even Metal Gear Solid 2 going by the Demo doesn't even surpass the visuals of Shenmue 1 or 2!
And don't argue that It does, because I have the games and It doesn't!! Full stop!!. MGS2 Demo is good yes, but weren't we expected better from the Great PS2?
And thats just the visual side that Disappoints, theres the problem with the 'oh so many great AAA games' too.
Ive my fair share of the supposed PS2 greats and boy have I grown tired of them! I didn't at first mind you, but then I realised, 'Dreamcast could do all that! But with the PS2 We where promised better'!
And so we where!. I know what I'm talking about too, Im a true PS Fan with a Gigantic library to put many to shame.
On the let down's, one example Iv'e seen In recent days Is Crash Bandicoot on PS2, to be totally honest I didn't see much difference in this game from It's PS counterpart!
Why Is this? Come on PS2 Developers! give us something with a bit of oomph!!, give us what we where promised!!, visuals in next gen style!!, GTA3 was recently a prime example too of great gameplay but lacking in the promised Next Gen Visuals.
And you know what? Can you really blame Sony giving a statement in releasing a successor to the PS2 within 2 years? After seeing the visual might and technology of Gamecube and X-box?
Who can blame them, In my opinion, the PS2 is a BIG let down and thats that, Iv'e changed my opinion yes, but then I have givin the system long enough to prove its worth and It hasn't!
(I'm expecting to see the Zealot's quoting part's word for word, yawn!)
Are you a masochist, or just stupid?
Gran Turismo 3 was a MASSIVE let down. The graphics are amazing but the gameplay is dire. It's far too much like Gran Turismo 2, there is nothing new for us gamers to experience. The gameplay is basically the same but that bit worse. Gran Turismo 2 gave us something very different to the first Gran Turismo. How many cars can you fit in your garage? 100! Now that shocked me SO much, it made GT3 sound pathetic considering how many cars you can get your hands on.
Another big let down was Smackdown!: Just Bring It, there was so much atitipation for this game and wasn't half as good as it was made out to be. It's an okay game but the companies made it out to be like a god.
There are bad games for the PS2 but you've gotta think about the good ones, Silent Hill 2, Grand Theft Auto 3, Pro Evolution Soccer and more, a big disappointment is that no Resident Evil games will be released for the PS2.
Sure the PS2 may not have lived up to everyone's expectations but has any console that has been released before it ever lived up to its true potential, I don't think they have.
I think the PS2 is a damn great console that has the potential to get even better. Up to now there has been no competition from any other console which means we have nothing to compare the games too. Now the GameCube and X-Box have been released developers will have to squeeze that extra drop of something special out to make the games better and to compete with the other consoles.
From your comments about your dreamcast games being better then I strongly suggest that you sell your PS2 and buy games for your dreamcast, whats the point of keeping a console you don't like?
Your comment about GTA3 also shocked me a little, I think we have been playing a different game, remember this game is fully 3D with a huge environment to explore, I don't know what kind of graphics you were expecting but they look great to me.
Going back to the whole opinions thing, Everyone has the right to their own opinion. And that's fine with me but once you give your opinion you have to accept that others will have different opinions and disagree with you. Just like I am doing now.
Can I ask why you bought your PS2? Obviously you didn't think what games you like the look of and if it will be as good as the gamecube and X-Box.
To me a console isn't all about what kind of graphics it can produce or how fast the processor is (which tells very little) it is about the games. If they are fun to play and are of a certain standard then it is worth getting them and the console to play them on.
visuals in next gen style!!, GTA3 was recently a prime example too of great gameplay but lacking in the promised Next Gen Visuals.
Bollards. Complete tripe.
Just one point-for Xmas I have told my parents to get any to of SEVEN games. I think that proves it.
