Depends on the motherboard model, most recent ones will have jumper/jumperfree operation, with softmenus in the BIOS. Check your motherboard manual, or just hit delete as your PC boots and see if there's an option to change the mult.

Errrmm, how do you change the CPU multiplier once it's unlocked? In the bios? Or is it a motherboard jumper?

the old pencil trick worked for me on my old t'bird 850 running at 1000 now i have a 1400 @ 1600 and it is factory unlocked. One thing to keep an eye on when overclocking is cpu heat as if this gets to high your system will become very unstable, i will not alow my cpu over 50 degrees just to be sure alhough i know they can run stable at higher heats. get a program that you can set to shut down your pc when the cpu overheats (hardware monitor).

Just been reading up, and although the temp on my clock was extremely high (although apparently not dangerously high) "quite stable" actually was POSTing, Windows working fine, surfing the net, being on irc and running a demo. Ignore what phil says..

The pencil trick is slightly unreliable, you may have to try it a few times. Basically, get a very thin pencil (mechanical ones work well)m and then go back and forward over each of the L1 bridges to give them a good covering.

L1 bridges location:

If the covering isn't completely successful, you may not be able to access some of the multipliers, but you can always run it out and try again. Alternatively, use some conductive ink, which would be much more reliable. Just make sure that the ink/pencil from one bridge doesn't touch the next..

The final result should be something along the lines of:

Hmmm, not sure about the stepping codes. Could someone explain, in a bit more detail how I unlock the multiplier with a pencil?

Unlock it and push up the multiplier, run mine stable on an Abit KT7A at 952mhz (112x8.5). Any idea what the stepping codes are on the core? 750s seem to do between 850 and 1050, depending on how lucky you get...shame I've got a 9 instead of a Y, I'm sure I could get more out of a Y..

I've got a Duron 750 (great CPU) running at 825Mhz (changed the FSB from 100 to 117Mhz I think). How hard do you think I can push it and how would I do this?

What's your cooling upgrade? I honestly can't see that without some sort of increase in the vcore, not to volt mod levels, but at least an extra 0.1v..
