I've been thinking about grabbing freeloader lately, but I'm not sure of any title right now that makes it a must have purchase.
Obviously Zelda is gonna be the nuts, but I want to wait till the official release of that game as I still have plenty of other games to play through so I don't need that game early.

No doubt some will quickly throw in the name Animal Crossing, but I'd like to know more about this game. I know the basics of it, but I want to know more about it that makes it so fun and stuff.
Don't take me as someone whose only out for the likes of realistic games and stuff cause I'm far from that - I really enjoy the quirky games that have fun stuff that totally detracts from the main game I'm just reading about Zelda and I'm already looking forward to playing hide and seek, finding pigs and exploring the sea in my boat for hidden treasure. :-)

Animal Crossing looks like it has plenty of this kind of stuff but it would be nice to know more about it and some of the experiences some of you have had with it cause I know a couple of you own this game.
Other games like Rogue Squadron 3 also make freeloader an interesting idea but these are a way off yet so as far as the near future goes, its games such as Animal Crossing that seem to be a way off a release over here or not at all in some cases that are going to be putting the arguement in favour of freeloader right now.

So if you have the time to do some typing and fancy sharing your Animal Crossing experiences, or any other import game in fact, then it'll be much appreciated. :-)
No spoiling Zelda for me though ! ;-)

The memory cards aren't region specific, they'll work anywhere.
The official ones, anyway.

But what it does is - is you're playing a NTSC game, it re-formats the memory card to a NTSC format, wiping all the PAL saves you've got on there. So you'll need spare cards for import games.

Or so I've heard.

As for Freeloader, I'm working everything out.
I will get one, only I've no money right now. and I'll also need a NTSC-PAL adapter for my telly to get the games in colour. Which is an extra £35.
Poop.

It's for Animal Crossing. Which I want. Now
Although, considering I've my GCSEs coming up - it's probably better that I don't.

>And< I also want to get my PS2 import-ready which cost around £40 to play FFX-2 when it's out in American.

It's worth getting a Freeloader just to import Winning Eleven 6: Final Evolution from Japan. The game does require a 251 memory card to save the games but apart from that and Animal Crossing you would need to check to see if there are any other games that require seperate memory cards.

I asked an importer about the GBA player coming out and they said that they're region specific. Apparently freeloader helps go around this to make it work on a UK machine, but me thinks I'll just wait for an official release.

I think I also heard that separate regions need separate memory cards. I know this is so with the region switchable GCs, but I'm not sure if Datel did a workaround with the freeloader.

I've got 3 smaller official memory cards on my GC cause I used some Reddies in SR to grab a couple. Might look into buying a larger memory card soon that it hold plenty more saves - especially when you have games such as the new Winning Eleven game that take up more blocks than a smaller momery card has !

If I need a seperate card for import games then I will grab a larger card for them so that it has a lot more blocks to avoid any nasty surprises on the amount of blocks a save takes. ;-))

Ugh - its times like this that I really appreciate the XBox having that hard drive.

Are there any problems saving import games onto official memory cards ? I've heard you at least need to save import games on a seperate card to what your official games are on. Don't want things failing to save or wiping other saves. :-)

It's probably worth it. Only if you can see yourself buying games which aren't released in Europe. Animal Crossing, for instance.

It's worth it anyway really.

£15 for a freeloader, then you can get every games months in advance and you can actually get them cheaper.

Since I got my Q I import every game now, and it only costs £30, and it would cost £36 if I bought the PAL version a few months later. And that includes shipping too...
